To wonder why his facebook is so well hidden from me

I've been dating a guy for a few months, and things seem to be progressing well.

He has a facebook account, but has it very well hidden, (as in I cannot find him at all) and says I don't need to be a friend because it is for professional networking only and that he doesn't use it much anyway.

Should I be a bit suspicious, or is this normal and I should relax and trust him.

Oh and OP - he has blocked you, he has found you on facebook and then blocked you so that you are unable to see him...

stardusty5 · 28/09/2013 14:02

Its a bit odd- surely if you had a pace for professional networking it would be very open, so new contacts could look you up and find out more about you? Doesn't make sense.

Viviennemary · 28/09/2013 14:02

You would think it was OK if you had met his parents. But on the other hand he is hiding something. I'd want to know what.

I think he has a relationship. I use social media for work( in marketing)and the only other person I have ever met who uses Facebook for networking is a man who owns a club!

ihearsounds · 28/09/2013 14:04

Erm, to network don't you need to be searchable?

Yes some blokes do take you to their parents. Was taken to the parents years ago. I was introduced by name, not hi this is my gf ihear. Found out about the wife when we bumped into her.

AmberLeaf · 28/09/2013 14:04

That 'meeting' with his parents looks like it was accidental.

Very suspicious.

suspiciousgf · 28/09/2013 14:04

I'm not really sure exactly what he does.

His linkedin summary says he is a business development associate. He says he works in marketing (I didn't really understand what he was marketing), and is an aspiring entrepreneur.

Get a friend who won't judge to look for him.

WorldPeaceAndFreeProsecco · 28/09/2013 14:05

PM me his name etc and I'll add him and tell you what the dealio is.

YouTheCat · 28/09/2013 14:07

He's a shyster.

Probably works in the Co op.

suspiciousgf · 28/09/2013 14:07

I tried creating a fake facebook account to search for him incase he blocked me, but still couldn't find him.

OP posts:
MotherOfDragon · 28/09/2013 14:09

Ooohhe is in marketing too, PM me his details, I will have a legit reason to add him and can tell you what's going on!

gaggiagirl · 28/09/2013 14:09

how inconsistent is the information on his Linkedin account from what he has told you?

GinAndIt · 28/09/2013 14:11

'Business development associate' [snort]

cupcake78 · 28/09/2013 14:11

Happy to look for you. He sounds dodgy. Nothing he tells you is concrete even his job title is woolly. He could have passed you off as a friend/colleague to his parents.

I know a few rats and they always skirt around questions!

Viviennemary · 28/09/2013 14:11

Have you been to his house. And do you know where he works. If you don't then massive red flags.

suspiciousgf · 28/09/2013 14:11

well he lied about his school (the school he told me he attended is different from the one on linked in)

OP posts:
PrincessFlirtyPants · 28/09/2013 14:12

Not much point in using it for networking if it's impossible to find

Very good point. LinkedIn is the more appropriate site for networking, as a PP has said.

Does he hide his phone from you? Only call you at certain times of the day? Any other married man like behaviour?

ivykaty44 · 28/09/2013 14:12

stick his phone number in and see if that comes up

cupcake78 · 28/09/2013 14:14

Why did he lie about his school? Is there a difference between the schools or do you think its so you can't track him?

suspiciousgf · 28/09/2013 14:15

I'm not sure why he lied about his school.

The one he has on linked in is a selective grammar school, whereas the one he told me he attended is a comp.

What should I stick his number into? Linkedin or Facebook?

OP posts:
PrincessFlirtyPants · 28/09/2013 14:23

Put it in Facebook, if nothing comes up try his email address.

PrincessFlirtyPants · 28/09/2013 14:24

Could have put the grammar school on there so people were more impressed.

catgirl1976 · 28/09/2013 14:24

Yes, he's blocked you

If you PM me his name I will look him up for you and report back
