To chop my ear off?!

I have the worst earache ever. I have no medication in the house and there are no shops open at this time near me. I can't sleep at all and its nearly 5am.

I literally want to scream in pain!! I've moved to the sofa so I don't bother dp.

I've tried olive oil, a hot compress, a cold compress. Nothing works!!!!

The whole ear hurts, inside and out. I touch it and i wince in severe pain.

Ahhhh somebody please be awake and give me some amazing tip? Or just speak crap to me to take my mind off it!!!

No tips, but I'm awake with the eczema under my ear itching. Not painful though, so you have my sympathies.

Does no medication include calpol? There is an adult option, i think, on the older agegroup version.

Again no tips, apart from to ring drs when it opens.

I have literally no meds in the house, i used the last of the paracetamol earlier. Ahhhhh its driving me mad!!!

And in answer to your question, YABU. Chopping the ear off would probably cause more pain in the side of the head area. Chop your toe off instead to distract you from the ear pain. (joke, obviously)

at fairy I'm 36 weeks pregnant and right now going into labour would be ideal to distract from the ear pain! And gas and air would probably help!

oh blimey. sounds awful. i just woke up from anxiety clenching teeth and jaw prob. just knew i had to make a cuppa. every time i go to a supermarket i buy cheapo paracetamol and ibuprofen. i like to be prepared. when can you ring your surgery. x

Surgery opens at 8am, and thankfully by then I should be able to have bought some paracetamol.

I'm usually pretty stocked up too, but dp has had a migraine for a couple of days and has wiped us out!

Glad to make you smile lj. I guess at 36 weeks reaching your toe might be an issue. Going into labour sounds like a good plan, though. But I'm sure your ear will be fixed long before then. Just hang on in there til 8.30 or whenever your surgery opens, and get yourself seen this morning. Earache is horrible but usually easily fixed.

Are you all set for the baby coming? Do you know if its a girl or a boy? You set on a name? [feeble attempt at distracting smalltalk]

Just smell it, or add it to the hot compress? No boozing while pg!

Thankyou everyone for keeping me distracted! Just realised the earliest shop opens at 6am so not too long to wait!

All set for our baby girl fairy and she's been busy jabbing me in my cervix all night which has been a big help distracting me too!

No alcohol here, dp doesn't drink at home and obviously neither do I currently! But a big whiff of whiskey would probably help!

Aw, she's showing you she loves you already, thats nice. Would a bath help? The steam might go in your ear and, erm, do something. I am clearly clutching at straws here.

Yep,get lots of straws and join them together to make a mega straw as long as your house. That shoukd keep you busy and distracted.

I know you said you'd used a compress but have you got a hot water bottle or heat pad so you can lie with your ear on it?

OP seems to have gone. Presumably to stand outside paracetamol shop and wait for it to open.

but at least she has something to do with her hands whilst she waits.

I managed to fall asleep, not for long but I feel slightly less mad now. Still in heaps of pain but my lovely lovely dp has gone to get paracetamol for me, so fingers crossed it at least takes the edge off!
