She's 16.

Is being a devil. Wearing: short black skater skirt, black wedge heels, sparkly red tank top and fishnet tights. Tail, devil ears and wings.

AIBU to want her to ditch the fishnet tights? I'm fine with short stuff but fishnet tights look so tacky and the rest looks fab!

I'm a child of the '80's I often went to discos in fishnet tights, for me they just saved money. They are much harder to ladder.

Fishnets are certainly what I'd put with a stylised devil costume, it needs that touch of the Gothic.

fishnets..another 80's girl :) where not only harder to ladder, they seemed warmer than tights (or stockings as my fishnet most def where) mid lenght shirt dress and belt, sorted! from age 15 and not as dress up, daily walk round town, I think my mum thought they where tame as she was a child or the 60's and the mini.

I LOVE fishnets! I always manage to get fishnet stockings and suspenders to work with every fancy dress costume I do!

Maybe put a pair of tights under the fishnets as a compromise? But then I'd put some rips in the fishnets to make them more gothy

Yes fishnets were much warmer and at 1am in the mid Welsh hills warmer was definitely a plus.

I wore fishnets as part of fancy dress as a 16 year old. Aren't Halloween costumes supposed to be a bit tacky? Be thankful she's not a naughty nurse.

Anyone remember a jilly cooper short story where the girl won't wear skirts cos she thinks she doesn't have nice legs, then she meets a lovely boy and he buys her a pair of fishnets for Christmas? (Which apparently give her great legs!). no advice to offer as I don't have any teenage dd myself but I did love fishnets at her age (or slightly older).

Oh for Fucks sake a 16 year old is old enough to have sex (heaven help us - DD1 is almost 16).

We are not talking about the sexualising of children we are into the rights of women to dress how they like and still be treated reasonably and with respect.

I don't know how you don't send out mixed messages, there are several threads on schools and short skirts that certainly mess it up.

Anyhow a Halloween devil in sequins and a short skirt would wear fishnets, it's just what works.
