first ever post so be gentle please!
i went to the cinema with DP last night and during the film a guy collapsed while trying to leave. some others got to him before me so i didn't go to help as i didn't want to be in the way. the manager came, had a look at him left, came back then left again bring another manager in. they then stood looking at him. this lasted a good ten mins during which the film was still playing and no lights had been turned on despite the fact that the guy had not gotten up!
i went out to speak to someone and found one of the managers outside the room and explained that i was really worried that they had not turned on the lights or stopped the film. he told me it was ok as they had called an ambulance
. i was a bit shocked as how did they know how serious it was etc without turning on the lights to see. he didn't respond only said that they had called an ambulance. i asked for his name (reluctantly given) and an address to write to complain as i felt that the way he was dealing with it was not right. the guy who had collapsed came out at this point and said he didn't want an ambulance and that he would leave. the other manager showed them to the sales desk for a refund then came back to talk to me. he said that they didn't stop the film or put on the lights as it meant sending someone to the projection room (i don't understand why this was a problem). and that he had a torch on his phone. there is no way he was using the torch as i was less than ten seats away and saw no light from teh area where teh guy was lying.
AIBU to send a letter of complaint in? i was so shaken that they didn't seem too bothered about whether he was bleeding or pale or anything really what if he had taken a stroke or something?! i honestly think they just didn't want to refund people for the film being stopped
.
god that was long well done if you made it this far!
