To say I'm gonna bill the courier company for my time?

Paid a premium for express delivery and took a day off work to wait for a package. Also took DD out of CM for the day as have only recently gone back to work after ML and miss her greatly! Still have to pay the CM for her time but was worth it IMO.

Been waiting in all day. My big noisy German Shepherd has got the hump because she hasn't been for a walk yet. For the last 2 hours we've been hanging out in the kitchen, eating lunch and watching for the courier so I can shut big noisy dog away (she barks when people step a foot onto our path, I don't even know how she can hear them as it's quite far from the door!)

Anyways just got a text saying I was out and to arrange redelivery. Called the couriers, they spoke to the driver who insisted he just came to the property and had even left a calling card. Obviously not!

They're now saying he won't be able to come back out today and I'll have to rearrange it. I'm furious as he's either gone to the wrong address (and therefore will do again) or just being a lazy bastard (I suspect the latter).

AIBU to say that if they expect me to take another day off I will be billing them for those days, the CM's rate and also the express delivery as I clearly haven't got it?

(Yes I'm aware there are much worse things going on in the world)

YANBU, try it. I threatened BT with the very same. I did some freelancing work, and because they mucked up something (it was daft) I spent two hours on the phone to them and therefore unable to work for two hours. My hourly rate was £20 and I told them I would bill them unless they credited me with £40. They did. DH was terrified!

Before you go in all guns blazing, check that you have entered the correct delivery address when you ordered it. I speak from experience Blush

Then let them have it.

Famzilla · 24/09/2013 16:04

Well I let rip and told them I would be billing them for a RMN's hourly rate x 24 (2 shifts) plus childminder fees etc.

Parcel turned up 15 minutes later.

I feel like a tiger.

Card left is the biggest scam in the parcel industry.

If on a drivers route there is one item miles out of the way, they will say we tried to call and you were out. That way they can bill for delivery. They will hold until there is more to go to that area.

The parcel never even goes on the van.
