To wish I hadn't upgraded my iPad to iOS 7?

I fecking hate it!

I know with most things it takes time to get used to a new look but I really think they've messed up this time. I don't think it adds anything. It's just so....flat.

I want iOS 6 back. ...

I hate it. The battery on my iPhone bottomed out from 80% in less than an hour yesterday. And I wasn't even doing anything!!

I like bits of it, like the new lock screen and it feels a bit lighter, but the colours on the app icons just seem garish ad childish. I'm hoping the next update might tone them down a bit.

And I hate the photo gallery.

When I got my iPhone 5 I asked about anti virus software. Was told that the anti virus software comes with the updates from iOS

I was reading an article yesterday about how you can change the moving wallpaper and the auto app updates and the I'm here thing (can't remember its proper name sorry) because they are all big battery sappers so worth doing, especially on older devices. Will try to find it.

I'm not very good at keeping up with the apple grapevine - I didn't upgrade from 4 to 5 because of the initial problems it had. So held back. Decided to do it eventually and then discovered I'd left it a few days too long - v6 was out. So I wait again for it to settle down and during the week thought it's finally time to upgrade from 4 to 6 after the weekend when life gets a bit quieter and lo and behold I've left it too long again, it's now v7 and people are saying it's not so good on older devices.

Anybody know how I can jump up to v6 but not 7 or have I just left it too long again?

I have an iPhone 3GS too, and it doesn't offer this update. However my iPad does offer me the update, which means if I update the ipad I'll have different iOS on each item . What a PITA.

There are plenty of other sites giving info on this too but I thought the advice in the link given above is nice and straightforward.

I like iOS7 but I don't understand why they include location based ads but not location based reminders. That seems nuts. I hope I am wrong and there is a way to activate location based reminders but I can't find it, I used to use them with iOS 5 (using a bit of a work around) they are really useful.

Ohh, I have an iPhone 4S, re my comments on location based reminders. it's a different situation with the iPhone 5's.

Go to
settings > messages > send and recieve

Then choose the numbers and emails you wish to use for your iMessages.

(That's what works for me (iPhone 4S and iPads) anyhow)

I like it, it took a couple of days to get used to, but now I've worked it all out, I prefer it.

I do wish Apple would do something about the new style charger lead. The DDs are on their 3rd each, and I've had to fork out for decent, stronger Belkin ones, as they break so easily.

Having had more time to play, I really like the new Safari, the control panel and the bit when you double click. Less of a fan still of the photo app and the slightly garish-ness of the colours.

But I will, inevitably, get used to it.

I'm on my third lead too and when I plug it in it says it's not authorised and may not work, never saw that before update.

Also, is there a way to delete individual text messages from a conversation now? I could do it before update, can't work out how now!

I upgraded my phone but won't be doing my iPad. Whilst I llke the way iot works, iOS7 is too fugly for words. Whoever likened it to "My first phone by Fisher Price" was right.

changeforthebetter you don't need that amount of space if you update using iTunes on your laptop.

I really like it. There's bits I'm not so keen on (safari tabs being top to bottom instead of left to right for instance) but overall I think it's a great improvement.
