I was at a seminar on tax law the other day (exciting I know!) and we were being tutored on the married couples allowance. The lecturer said it also applies to civil partners and said "bit of a joke though really, I mean how many couples do you know over 70 in a civil partnership" in an extremely sarcastic tone. He then went on to basically scoff at the notion of elderly gay couples and make "jokes" about "raunchy grannies"

AIBU to think this is out of order and consider reporting him?

What on earth is odd about older gay couples? They are just as bloody acceptable as younger ones.

And why is lesbian sex considered "raunchier" than normal sex?

What a narrow minded person.just because they dont know anyone in that circumstance doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Certainly in the USA, the movement for equal marriage has been spearheaded by many elderly gays and lesbians, many of whom have been waiting decades, sometimes 50 years or more, to marry the person they love. Without decades of campaigning from the older members of the LGBT community, they wouldn't have half the rights they do now, never mind civil partnerships and marriage.
