...To want to eat my baby?

WoolySheep · 21/09/2013 14:01

My 5 month old is just...too much. He's becoming worryingly cute. I am DANGEROUSLY close to full on chowing down on one of his chubby lil' ham hock legs. Sprinkling a bit of seasoning on there, perhaps adding a thyme garnish and having a good old nosh. Anyone else ever feel the same?

Jesus her babies are nearly adults now and she is a relatively normal person, so it was all alright in the end.

greylady thats amazing! I love, love it!!

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 21/09/2013 21:52

I'm sure that small children are made of marzipan

snickersnacker · 21/09/2013 21:54

I love this thread. YANBU!

I tell my DD that I want to put her on a piece of toast. Nomnomnom.

TooTabooToBoo · 21/09/2013 22:07

I have the chubbiest little boy there ever was! He's 6 months and his cheeks are just edible! As for his thighs, cankles and chunky wrists, well I may have to put him on a butty!

CressidaMontgomery · 21/09/2013 22:55

I'm still really bad with my 6 year old boy Blush he's so sweet and funny and edible

snickersnacker · 25/09/2013 12:11

Resurrecting this thread because SCIENCE IS WITH US:

I do this, and it hasn't worn off with my ds who is 9, (fave snuggly bit is the soft downy hair on the back of his neck) my dd1 who is 7, my fave bit is her soft little cheeks (when not covered in chocolate/snot/dirt) and my dd2 who is 8m is just snuggly soft and delicious all over.
Of course I can only do this to the elder two when they are asleep as they would think I'm a weirdo, but hey, mothers privilege.

AmberLeaf · 25/09/2013 12:51

Glad to read it is 'normal' and science based too!

Has he got those lovely bracelets of fat around his wrist? That's my favourite part on babies

OMG yes, fat bracelets!

My youngest is 10 now, but sometimes when he is sleeping I almost eat him.

MisselthwaiteManor · 25/09/2013 12:57

I was going to say me too but while reading this my 3 month old did the most atrocious nappy and now I've changed my mind.

wonderingsoul · 25/09/2013 12:58

never had the urge... i have heard o f licking though..

what about the smell of wet nappys.. but only your own childs one?

ZingWantsCake · 25/09/2013 13:39

wondering

I wouldn't want to eat it but I absolutely love the smell of a bf baby's newborn poo - only of my own children's though!Wink

Trampette · 25/09/2013 13:53

My son when small used to let me smell his breath or his neck if he could sense i was angry or upset, my God it was good! Mummy whasmatta? you want smell my bweff? or if he was annoyed with me he used to say, 'thats it, you not smelling me any more'! He is now 14 and still has the sweetest breath, think vanilla and lovelyness, i used to hear him screaming sometimes only to find his elder brother had wrestled him to the ground and was tormenting him to make him scream so he could smell his breath! My elder Son had the most tantalising aroma, people used to ask me what i put on him but it was completely natural, think vanilla and new baby, he grew out of it when he was about 9 or 10 how i miss it......... They were both the softest little things too, and apart from body hair are still very soft.

QuintessentialShadows · 25/09/2013 13:55

When my 8 year old son was a baby, he smelt of strawberries and peach.

He was totally edible. He still is! Grin

WingDefence · 25/09/2013 22:15

Trampette, a friend of mine kept telling me how much she adored the smell of her boys' breath (now 5 and 3) and when she held my DD as a newborn she kept smelling her breath.

I can't smell anything of my DD's breath. She is bfed so I wonder if I can't smell it because it's my milk IYSWIM?

Thanks for that link snicker.

CailinDana · 25/09/2013 22:34

My 7 month old dd tolerates my neck nibbling with a look of weary resignation. Poor child.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 25/09/2013 22:42

Oh yes, DS's non existent breath smell. I purposely put my face near his when he does a big yawn to have a good sniff but there's nowt!

Nappies as well, wee soaked ones have a lovely warm smell. Pooey nappies, although not pleasant are not too offensive. Although, he's only having breast milk at the moment so that's probably why (his first veg being introduced). His farts however, wow, even I think they properly stink! Phew!

letsgetreadytoramble · 25/09/2013 22:56

My sister told me that it's a primal instinct which originates from the fact that some animals actually eat their young to protect them if they sense danger. I do sort of understand that, because in my more knackered moments when he was a newborn I did sort of feel on some primal level that if I ate him he'd be totally safe. I know that's not exactly the same as wanting to eat their chubby little thighs, but I guess maybe it might explain the eating response? Anyway, thanks for this thread, it's cheered up a very weary mum (whose baby remains uneaten).

Wonderstuff · 25/09/2013 23:04

Aww what a fab thread. I nibble on my 3 yo still.

MrsMook · 25/09/2013 23:10

DS2 is 5m and loves a good munching. It really makes him giggle. I also have a go at DS1 (2.9). A bit more sparingly as I don't want him to get me back!

We had a long running saga about BBQing the baby, and picking the right moment between being juicy enough Vs too big to fit. We got a new BBQ when DS1 was 6m and put him on prior to its first use. I'd like to reassure all that the joke was not repeated after, and there were no coals on there Grin

TeamSouthfields · 25/09/2013 23:11

I once worked in a nursery. where a member of staff was seriously told off and verbally warned about telling a child sheila's going to eat him!!!!! gods honest truth Shock Shock Shock

TeamSouthfields · 25/09/2013 23:20

she was going to eat him... not sheila's

Morloth · 25/09/2013 23:44

I often tell DS2 I will eat him up I love him so.

He responds with 'But DS2 Says NO!' and runs away.

Igloofornow · 25/09/2013 23:55

I have three skinny malinkys but I love to nibble on their cheeks, when DD 1 looks at me with her wee moon face and big blue eyes I just want to gobble her up. She is delicious, every day I'm amazed by how much love I can make for three little monsters.

Dfg15 · 26/09/2013 10:19

When my dd2 was a baby her head smelt of apples and cinnamon - it was gorgeous! I still remember the day I noticed that the smell had gone, she was about 2. I was Sad

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 26/09/2013 10:31

We have the joke about putting DS' chunky thighs on the BBQ. I love the soft skin on the back of his neck, and regularly chomp and nom on his legs and feet. He says 'no mummy!' now (he's 21 months) but he's got the most delicious fat feet, I can't help myself. We have a game that he loves which basically involves me blowing raspberries on his tummy while exclaiming that 'I'm going to have monkey tummy and chips for my tea!' in a room on the broom style.
