I have never used Groupon (so am not signed up) but I came across this deal and I am actually looking for a decent beanbag at the moment. So, my question is: have you used Groupon or bought a Big Bertha Beanbag from Buy Your Beanbag (that name just doesn't seem very authentic-business-like)???
Would I be mad to send them my credit card details and expect a decent beanbag to arrive no problem.

I have bought loads of goods/meals off of groupon. As long as you look at the small print it's great. I have had some "unexpected" problems e.g going to restaurant at wrong time specified on voucher or trying to buy stuff not included on voucher, but this is my own doing. This looks a good deal if you were thinking of getting one anyway.

Also, big berthas are totes expensive so this will go quickly I would imagine.

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/09/2013 19:29

My last few groupon deals have been:
5 dead roses
A massage in a very dirty salon
A fire pit that we used once before it rusted through (and we paid extra for the cover)

I've had loads of problems with Groupon - getting suitable appointments for haircuts/beauty treatments, being treated differently from 'full-paying customers' in restaurants, attractions etc - so have stopped using them. Over-selling of vouchers has also been a massive issue in the past. I have never used their vouchers to buy anything though so I would try googling them, there's a lot of reviews and comments about them ranging from excellent to dire.

Iwantacampervan · 19/09/2013 19:35

I have bought the beanbags - the only warning is that the postage is high but altogether it's still cheaper than going to a shop.

Might be useful.....

I don't use Groupon for services anymore - as pp have said, they always oversell and you can never get appointments. But 'things' are generally OK, as is meals if you check the small print carefully.

There's always piggy bags from Made.com, who have free delivery 'til the end of September. We love our bean bag from there, best purchase ever.

I got an MP3 off them, it took ages to come but it works just fine ( in accordance with Sod's Law it will now blow up next time I use it! )

medhandthekiddiesvtheworld · 19/09/2013 22:18

I love groupon, the photography, books, canvas offers are great (DO NOT USE PRINTERPIX) its like any deal, it needs researching befor eyou buy it

FIL was waiting over 4 months for his groupon giant beanbag and eventually had to get a refund.

Read the amazon customer reviews for big bertha, "chemical smell" "had to fill it myself" "not enough beans" " no inner lining" " gap in zip so kept spilling out". If you do go for it the most helpful tip seems to be put the beans in in a spare duvet so you can wash the cover with no faff. Im still hoovering up polystyrene bits 2 years after my son opened a zip in our charity shop bargain - aargh. (they went down the gaps in the wooden floor planks)
