A lot of the time see threads about gender specific toys or woman not wanting their daughter to watch a Disney princess film or say the words - "When I grow up I want to be a princess"

That little girls don't like to wear dresses, paint their nails and they are all unique etc.

Yet when it is a discussion about women I often see such generalisation - women are bitches, they only talk about soaps and tv shows, meeting for coffee etc

It seems like girls on here are classed as unique beings (which of course they are) however women are classed as very stereotypical.

Can you link to a thread where people have said that women only talk about soaps , etc? It's not something I've noticed in my time here.

GetStuffezd · 19/09/2013 17:31

But MN is not a single entity - it's the sum of all is parts.

msrisotto · 19/09/2013 17:32

Mumsnet isn't a giant single entitied beast you know. The people refusing to stereotype girls are probably not the same people stereotyping women.

are you sure you are on the correct site?

TheVermiciousKnid · 19/09/2013 17:34

I think you are the one making generalizations, OP. :)

WaspInTheHouse · 19/09/2013 17:37

You're basically using the trouble making female friends thread as the stereotyping women thing aren't you? Why not bring it up there like other posters did instead of starting a new thread.

MummyBeerest · 19/09/2013 17:37

...what?
...sorry?
...pardon?

I think YABU. I've never noticed this on here.

WaspInTheHouse · 19/09/2013 17:39

Actually, aren't you the my friend sent a bitchy text poster and were told that you were in the wrong by people saying she wasn't being bitchy?

Did they end up calling you bitchy?

YellowbelliedSapsucker · 19/09/2013 17:39

What msrisotto said.
