to think if you are told someone us in the shower cubicle at the swimming pool, you wait rather than try and force your way in to check?

Kids went swimming at leisure pool yesterday as a treat, they normally swim for lessons etc at a 'boring' pool. so when it came to shower time I sent dd (7) into shower but told her not to lock it as its not the door/lock she is used to and thought it would be easier and quicker if I stood guard outside passing towels and collecting and wringing out costumes.

A women comes along with young daughter, peers at cubicle and I say 'there is someone in there' she acknowledges this (so no language barruer or anything) and I turn head slightly away as Ds called me. I expected woman to move away to other set of showers or wait (we had waited a while for a free cubicle as kids needed proper shower as were going home to bed).

Instead she reaches round me and pushes door open! I pull handle shut just as she catches a glimpse of naked dd (not wide enough for rest of changing village to see I think). And say to her 'I don't see why you would think I would lie you?' she looks a bit surprised but didn't apologise and then walked off.

Seems such a weird thing to do to me and I just can't understand why anyone would do it?

Bit weird. Maybe she thought you were actually holding it for someone who wasn't in there yet, and was going to take it if that was the case?

ConfusedPixie · 16/09/2013 09:37

What suel dais, she thought that you were holding it. Rude of her though, especially not to apologise when it turned out that you were right!

ASmidgeofMidge · 16/09/2013 09:44

Maybe she didn't realise was a private shower iykwim? Maybe thought it was communal and there was more than one?

mymagaret · 16/09/2013 12:43

I agree with the other posts about her maybe thinking it was a communal or something but to then not apologise is Rude yes. It's suprising how rude people can be sometimes.

littleducks · 16/09/2013 14:17

Really obvious it was a private shower, as in a corner with wall behind, absolutely tiny- smaller than a toilet cubicle in fact. There are communal poolside showers too so pretty obv if someone is in cubicle the chances are they have taken their costume off.

I would report her to the staff tbh, she has purposely and knowingly tried to access a shower with your naked child inside, that is dodgy? whatever her reasons?? a child could have been really upset by this

littleducks · 16/09/2013 19:19

To be fair I said 'somebody' without explaining it was a child (I thought it was obvious you would only hold door for a child, is normal practice at our normal pool). Could have been my husband and she would have had a real shock!

Thankfully dd was facing the other way and didn't notice, she would not have been happy.

She prob didnt actually think somebody was in there. Swbu for not apologising though!
Dont think reportable though bit ott.

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2013 16:59

Weird. Maybe she didn't actually hear you.

asandwichshort · 17/09/2013 17:04

Are you sure there was not a language barrier - if she didnt speak English she may have thought you were telling her she could go in there!

SaucyJack · 17/09/2013 17:15

Weird, especially as it was obviously from the fact your son was talking to you that you had children with you.

Jolleigh · 17/09/2013 17:32

I commend you for keeping a lid on your rage. I'd have been bloody livid if someone ignored what I said and therefore got an eyeful of my naked child. Honestly not sure if my reflex would have been to push her away forcibly (whatever that says about me Blush )

CocacolaMum · 17/09/2013 17:40

report it? really? erm ok

plantsitter · 17/09/2013 17:42

She probably thought you were waiting assuming that there was no one in there. You know like when everyone uses one cash point because they assume the other one's broken as noone's using it? Dunno why she didn't apologise though.

CocacolaMum · 17/09/2013 17:50

maybe she didn't apologise because she found you a bit aggressive in the way you responded to her pushing the door, you having a boy with you would not lead someone to presume that you have another child with you. I have been behind someone in the queue for the ladies where they have waited saying there was someone in a cubicle when (after what felt like a year) it turned out there wasn't.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 18:01

Lol some people will put the paedo spin on anything..report her indeed.

She maybe thought you said "I think there's someone in there"..it's not a huge deal.IMO

kali110 · 18/09/2013 02:20

Yes a woman talking to her son, i immediatley think she must have another child with her, how can she not...

Fluffymonster · 18/09/2013 02:44

I think she was rather ignorant and rude, but don't believe it was more sinister than that. Stupid, that's all.
