To think that if you send a business a fb message at 9:45 on a Sun night that you might not get an immediate response?

I'm used to the people who email me during the day and then if they don't get a response within 20 minutes, email me again to ask if I got their email - I don't think anyone should expect instant responses but fair enough, maybe it's not clear that I work on my own and don't have admin staff. However, honestly, if you send me a fb message at 9:45 on a Sunday night to ask about my pricing, don't you think it just might be the next morning before you get a response? Is it really helpful to send another message at 11:15 saying, "!?x" ?

Bonkers...

StrangeGlue · 16/09/2013 08:51

Argh!!! That's mad and annoying and unlikely to make you want to work with them. Do they work 24/7?

Hegsy · 16/09/2013 08:52

Depends though had you read the message at 9.45? If you had then the person might have thought you were ignoring them as it does show on facebook messages when someone has read a message you sent.

Otherwise then no YANBU.

I used to have a client who would text me a request and then send a ':)' text every 10 minutes until I answered.

I would reply with : "I'm so sorry nobody was available to answer your query on Sunday night. In answer to your question, the price of...is..."
YANBU!!

angelinterceptor · 16/09/2013 09:16

I get those too - its really annoying - YANBU but people i think expect instant communication nowadays.

mrsjay · 16/09/2013 09:19

I think with it being facebook people expect a response right away as it is quite an informal site IYSWIM
technology is so instant folk are impatient, saying that I wouldn't have messaged you again,

mrsjay · 16/09/2013 09:19

maybe say you will respond within x and y hours

pianodoodle · 16/09/2013 09:24

I'd put a note on your page giving a rough time people can expect a response and maybe mentioning the fact that you aren't glued to fb 24hrs a day!

Taz1212 · 16/09/2013 09:28

Hegsy, no I hadn't read it. I saw there was a notification but ignored it. I went into my messages just before I went to bed and saw the two messages. I still ignored them until this morning when I gave my standard response. Grin

that is all you can do really you didnt do anything out of the ordinary just the person was impatient,

Taz1212 · 16/09/2013 09:31

Oh dear, she's just replied saying she only has £10 less than my starting price but she really really loves my product, would I consider a discount.

Replying to say sorry and hopefully closing the conversation!!
