AIBU to ask you all the boycot Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the musical

Until the prices come down enough for me to take my family?

I'd love to take my children. They'd adore it, but even the tickets up on the roof behind a pillar are £25 a pop and if we actually wanted to be able to see anything on the stage we'd have to pay about £50 each. As a family of five, that's the sort of money we normally budget for a few nights away and I just can't justify it.

So, if you could all please not buy tickets so that the ticket office would panic and reduce their prices I'd be much obliged.

I wouldn't bother, it's not that good! Watch the film and save up for Matilda!

Matilda is the same price. Sad

Is it really better though?

Do I need to come up with a plan to drive down prices for that instead?

I've seen the music to done if the dings and they are really good.

I'd live to see the show but its do expensive

However we saw Matilda last year in the cheap seats which were fine & it was fabulous.

I don't think it quite happens like that. People will come from all over the world to visit London and pay to see the top shows. MNers boycotting will make little impact I'm afraid.

Matilda is WELL worth saving up for - one of best things I've seen in West End - better than Lion King imo. We had good seats (Christmas present from my mum) but I think you'd be fine in the 'cheap seats'

I'd heard Charlie wasn't all that - reviews weren't great....

Sell one of your kids on ebay which will a) raise funds and b) lessen the overall price you have to pay anyway.

Dammit bowlers you could be right. What if there was a slight insect infestation in the theatre? Do you think that would put people off? My three love a minibeast so it would only enhance their experience......

Excellent plan by SGB - wish I'd thought of that earlier. Had to take out a mortgage to take my lot to see Lion King recently. Would love to see more theatre, but we just can't justify that kind of money on a regular basis.

Already seen it, £19 a ticket for seats in the Grand Circle.
Mind you, I did have to go with a class of excitable, loud 10 year olds!

I saw it during the previews, it was still fairly pricey though. It was good but I preferred Matilda.

I am not sure anything anywhere can be blaze any more about customers....even if little old mn boycotted it...

backforgood do you have little local stuff going on with £8 tickets and the like?

We cant afford the proper theatres any more either but I do prefer the little ones now, and the little independent one man sort of shows that are going on, some of them are truelly amazing.

One lady had a sewing machine, shoe box, and some tissue, she was even dressed in tracky bottoms, but my, her puppet show was amazing and beautiful!

I don't know if they are doing tickets for Charlie and the chocolate factory but its worth looking at the Tkts office at Leicester square, they do discounted theatre tickets daily. You have to get there fairly early though.

Matilda is soer...we are going for the third time.
West end is so expensive...l.lwe get good deals through the PTA, and I have an Ambassadors theatre card which gives discounts at Wimbledon theatre.

We do go quite a lot...probably 8-12 times a year depending what's on.

We watched Matilda in the cheapest seats in the roof . It was amazing.

Matilda is AMAZING and well worth taking out a second mortgage for. I went with my DM (no kids!) and somehow managed to get upgraded despite leaving our print-at-home tickets at home. I was fully expecting to be irritated by a bunch of shrill, jazz-handing stage school kids with rictus grins but every single one of them was absolutely fantastic.

Matilda is truely brilliant. The music is brilliant, the sets are brilliant, the acting is fantastic and,of course, the story is great!!

Theatre tickets are ridiculously expensive. Sad
