To expect better from M&S

Sleepgrumpydopey · 11/09/2013 20:54

I bought a chicken pie from M&s the picture on the packaging showed a pie filled with lots of chicken pieces.
When I made the pie it had very few chicken pieces in it (eg picture showed 30 actually contained 12).

Contacted M&S as was genuinely disappointed and she wants me to take the box back to town to customer services for a refund.

Aibu to expect them to just send me a voucher? What a hassle.

Yabu.

FannyMcNally · 11/09/2013 20:56

Well you can hardly expect them to take your word for it.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 11/09/2013 20:57

The picture on the packet probably states that it's a serving suggestion (or similar) for exactly this reason. Food never looks like the picture.

DifferentNow · 11/09/2013 21:01

I return stuff/complain if I'm not satisfied etc constantly. Reading your post though OP has made me realise what I must sound like sometimes. You sound like you might need a hobby.

Gigondas · 11/09/2013 21:01

Bugger me- is this for real? Yabu

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/09/2013 21:02

Really?

FannyMcNally · 11/09/2013 21:09

I've been sucked in. Did you count the pieces as you and your family were eating them on the off-chance you had been short-changed? And how big was the box to show 30 pieces? They only normally show a quarter that's been cut away. Must have been a humongous pie.

PrimalLass · 11/09/2013 21:10

12 pieces of chicken in a chicken pie is ridiculous.

BonaDea · 11/09/2013 21:12

Yanbu.

laloue · 11/09/2013 21:13

depends on the size of the pie?

WhereYouLeftIt · 11/09/2013 21:17

Do you really feel it is unreasonable for a shop to verify that you actually bought their product before they refund against it? Shock

Capitola · 11/09/2013 21:23

Quality of pie aside - you are being extremely unreasonable to expect them to refund you on the basis of you just telling them it was substandard.

ThePorpoiseOfStupidity · 11/09/2013 21:26

This thread reminds of a story in our local paper about an Asda chicken curry that someone bought, only to discover there was no chicken in it.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 11/09/2013 21:35

Did you ever hear the recording of a bloke phoning the Asda complaints line about the pizza with no topping? After about 10 minutes he realised he'd opened the box upside down Grin

ThePorpoiseOfStupidity · 11/09/2013 21:39

leo Grin

mrspremise · 11/09/2013 21:46

Leo Grin TBH, expecting a ready meal (and that's what it is, regardless of the source) to be anything other than a waste of money is VU.

SamHamwidge · 11/09/2013 22:02

Wow. Are you really getting this wound up about it?

I know it's crap that it doesnt look like the picture but either take it back or forget about it, bigger fish to fry an all that.

YANBU.

M & S is a real pain in the arse for this.

They always ask you to return to the store and get refund from customer service desk. Which takes time and is a hassle.

Even if they admit their mistake, ie they know that an incorrect price was being charged on a particular item.

In contrast Sainsburys are great. You can register your complaint/issue on line, they respond within 24 hours, are unfailingly polite ime and refund directly to your credit card or nectar card. No hassle with returning to store to state your case and lining up with other harassed souls at customer services.

M & S are just irritating in general imo, often charge incorrectly, ie on reduced items and their food does not match their inflated prices.

And their staff are often apathetic and disinterested.

Vote with your feet next time and shop elsewhere.

Thanks nut cracker

Someone complained in Co-Op this morning that her strawberries had gone bad because they had used a different provider/farm obviously. They gave her a free punnet without the receipt or the bad strawberries. I'm thinking of going in next week and trying my hand with a bunch of Bad cherries or something. Grin. Oddly enough OP I don't think YABU considering it's M & S.

If you think that the picture is misleading you can always go to trading standards
