to think it's odd to wear a "going out" dress to work?

There's a woman I work with, I don't know her as she works in a different department but she comes across as she always makes the effort to look nice and always had her hair styled and make-up done.

(Whereas me I'm more of a 5 minutes, quick brush my hair and thats it)

Today I was behind her in a queue to get a coffee and she was wearing something like this -

Aibu to think this is quite an odd choice to wear to work?? (Btw the work is office based)

maybe she's going out on the town after work?

eurochick · 11/09/2013 17:56

That's a bit OTT for the office. Sometimes I will "dress up" for the day if I am going out afterwards, but not to that level.

specialsubject · 11/09/2013 17:57

walk of shame job - she didn't get home last night! :-)

beepoff · 11/09/2013 18:04

YANBU but each to their own...

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 11/09/2013 18:07

Do you work in a pub?
If so that's fine, if not, how strange.
Did she have high heels on aswell?

GroupieGirl · 11/09/2013 18:08

A pub?! That would be terribly impractical pub-wear. Think of all the beer spillages, the bending over to restock, the lugging around of barrels. Only trousers will do!

LRDMaguliYaPomochTebeSRaboti · 11/09/2013 18:13

That's a bit odd!

I wouldn't wear something that satiny and short. But I would happily wear dresses I'd go out in, if that makes sense? Just not one like that.

rockybalboa · 11/09/2013 18:14

Did she do that pose in the queue for the coffee machine?

Dackyduddles · 11/09/2013 18:15

Where do u work? Looks a bit trashy tbh....

GildedWingsOfGrace · 11/09/2013 18:17

Not pub work, like I said in the OP - it's office work - sales, customer service etc.

Shape? Passable, just.

Or

Material? Weird!

mynewpassion · 11/09/2013 18:21

Throw on a black suit jacket and she will be ok. Maybe she's going straight to a business event after work.

SantanaLopez · 11/09/2013 18:25

$100 for that? Blimey.

YANBU.

reggiebean · 11/09/2013 18:25

YANBU. I'm quite often amazed at the things that some women think qualify as "office appropriate".
Saw a paralegal the other day in a leather school-girl style miniskirt. Hmm

PeppermintCreamsSaga · 11/09/2013 18:26

If it's black or grey....maybe ok. Otherwise it's weird.

Mumsnut · 11/09/2013 18:32

Maybe she didn't go home last night ...

May well be she has an office do or client function to go to straight from work.

It's a little dressy but not like she's wearing a strapless ballgown!

And tbh compared to an office I currently work in where during summer people slob around in cut off shorts, t shirts and flip flops like they've just rolled off the beach, I'd rather see someone overdressed than in the sort of clothes I'd wear to do my housework in!

GirlWithTheDirtyShirt · 11/09/2013 18:36

Most of our HR department would consider that office wear.

helenthemadex · 11/09/2013 18:38

she didnt get home last night Grin

TalcAndTurnips · 11/09/2013 18:39

Yup. It's either and extension of the Walk of Shame, or she's got the serious hots for Malcolm in IT.

< taps nose >

TalcAndTurnips · 11/09/2013 18:39

an extension.

judgejudithjudy · 11/09/2013 18:41

yabu & sound jealous tbh - what she wears is none of your business! bitchiness at its best. have my first ever Biscuit

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 11/09/2013 18:41

With a black jacket and black tights, possibly.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 11/09/2013 18:43

And I'm quite concerned about the time you must have spent googling to find a copy online.
