to think it's odd to wear a "going out" dress to work?

There's a woman I work with, I don't know her as she works in a different department but she comes across as she always makes the effort to look nice and always had her hair styled and make-up done.

(Whereas me I'm more of a 5 minutes, quick brush my hair and thats it)

Today I was behind her in a queue to get a coffee and she was wearing something like this -

Aibu to think this is quite an odd choice to wear to work?? (Btw the work is office based)

It's a hideous dress.

SilverStreak7 · 11/09/2013 19:43

Hahaha I agree with Specialsubject ..

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 19:53

Grin gilded

You ARE jealous aren't you. You deeply desire a badly made polyester satin frock in Alexis Carrington ice blue. You may as well admit it.

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 19:54

But you should be grateful. Someone upthread gave you their first ever Biscuit and we all know what an honour and how important that is.

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 19:56

Alexis Carrington? I meant Krystal Carrington.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 11/09/2013 19:58

Was it seriously that shiny? That is one shiny dress...

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 20:03

You wouldn't dare light a cigarette in that dress would you?

MissBeehiving · 11/09/2013 20:07

Or stand too close to the hot air dryer in the loos

MissBeehiving · 11/09/2013 20:08

Imagine the static electricity on the stairs...

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 20:10

You would take your life into your hands rubbing a balloon wearing that thing.

Lweji · 11/09/2013 20:24

What I want to know is if she was wearing any underwear.
It looks awfully revealing.

I do wear nice dresses for work sometimes but mostly because I have no life to wear them elsewhere

SwedishEdith · 11/09/2013 20:26

Maybe nothing else passed the sniff test from the bedroom floor laundry basket

themaltesefalcon · 11/09/2013 20:30

I honestly think it's a lovely dress.

Oblomov · 11/09/2013 20:32

OTT and inappropriate.

reggiebean · 11/09/2013 20:32

LeGavrOrf You've made me actually laugh out loud picturing a woman wearing that dress rubbing herself with balloons in the middle of the office.

Lweji I wear nice dresses for work too... Keyword being "nice" Grin

MissBeehiving · 11/09/2013 20:40
LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 20:44

You would have to rub the balloon in the manner of Vic Reeves in Shooting Stars, whilst leering.

Shooting stars leering Grin

specialsubject · 11/09/2013 20:48

anywhere I have ever worked there would be some fierce but good-natured mickey-taking on the subject of 'good night last night?'

fair play to her.

SeaSickSal · 11/09/2013 20:49

Walk of shame. I have done this years ago and it was because I had slept with someone the night before and not gone home.

carlywurly · 11/09/2013 20:50

I can't imagine anyone wearing that at my place, and there are a few dressy types. I also think you'd get sent home to change.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 11/09/2013 20:50

Gross.

But then I don't wear dresses.

Screwfox · 11/09/2013 20:50

i was at a school inset day once when the ED Psych gave a talk in one of those 90s sheer tops with an opaque bra on underneath!

we also like to laugh at PE staff when they are in clothes as they wear car to bar heels anf bodycon

LeGavrOrf · 11/09/2013 20:50

But it's only bloody Wednesday.

I know I am past it but who gets trussed up in a cocktail frock on a Tuesday night? And then goes on the pull and has to wear it to work the next day.
