Because ours this morning seemed utterly terrified of the opposing team.
(nc-ed as this could out me)
Swearing, pushing, fouling, calling a supporter a 'f-ing poof'. There were no cards given or sendings off, he didn't even talk to them and say "calm down" or anything. I like junior football and think it's a good thing, but after this morning's game I feel like handing in my supporter's badge!
Admittedly they were one of the rougher teams, and they're not all like that, but it's quite sad that everybody's gone away from the first match of the season feeling disgruntled and fed up.
The referee came over at the end and asked if we wanted to complain to the league. He said he wouldn't send people off because if the other team complained and took it to the league, and they decided he didn't have enough reason to do it, he could lose his job! Surely that's wrong? The referee should be in charge and what he says goes.
