To think you don't phone someone in the early hours of the morning unless it's an emergency?

4 times between half 12 - 2 I had phone calls to my mobile last night. I know I should turn the mobile off at night but I like to keep it on as it's used as my cloc

k and alarm. I ended up turning it on silent after the first two times. I know it's not family because they're all aware not to phone me after half nine unless it's a dire emergency because of the children. I answered the first call thinking it maybe important but all I heard was hysterical laughter and someone hanging up.

Now this afternoon my mobile is having anonymous calls again but every time I've answered the line is quiet and then they hang up.

It's bloody annoying. Whoever it is needs to get a grip and they're lucky that their childish pranks didn't wake my kids last night.

I'm bloody fuming - childish fuckers!

Have You upset someone op?

MrsSippy · 08/09/2013 14:26

I use mine as my alarm, but put the phone on flight mode at night so no calls etc come through. My alarm also still works if the phone is on silent.

FreeAtLastAtLongLast · 08/09/2013 14:27

Who would do this to you?

Yonihadtoask · 08/09/2013 14:29

Is it a wrong number?

I have had the odd drunken call and texts from wrong numbers late at night/early mornings.

Thumbwitch · 08/09/2013 14:30

Agree entirely.

Stupid bastards - perhaps they have a wrong number, or are prank calling you just for fun. Don't say anything in case they're recording it.

I had a spate of dodgy texts and calls to my mobile - turns out, and I still have no idea how this happened, that my phone number had turned up on some mens' loos wall in a sailing club. Shock I'm assuming that some idiot had just written their number wrong, because I don't know enough people here for someone to have done that deliberately. By about the 4th different caller to phone me after 11pm, I told him to cross the number out as it was invalid for the purposes they required.

Are they auto sales calls , like ppi ?

LittlePocket · 08/09/2013 14:33

I do have an idea but I don't want to point the finger unless I have proof. I think it may be EX and his girlfriend on a night out last night. They're the type to do it and have done in the past. EX has a new girlfriend and gets all clever when he does. She's already been phoning me to make contact arrangements between our kids instead of him. It could be her because I've told her I refuse to talk to her about contact between ex and my children. I've never even bloody met the woman.

Again, I can't definitely say it's them but she has had friends of hers calling me before now.

Good grief, in which case surely that constitutes harassment? Perhaps you should just say "I've reported these calls to the Police as harassment" and then hang up.

specialsubject · 08/09/2013 14:44

you either have a prank caller or are on an automated dialler.

turn it off and buy a clock.

HindsightisaMarvellousThing · 08/09/2013 14:46

Get a whistle and blow it really hard down the phone at them.

LittlePocket · 08/09/2013 14:59

I've just looked through the phone and it has a do not disturb sign on it which you can set at a time you'd like to what time you'd like in the morning. So whoever it is can stick it in their pipe and smoke it because no calls will get through after half nine unless it's family. Didn't even realise the Iphone had that. Any anonymous calls I'm going to get again today will not be answered. At the end of the day all my family have the house phone number and that includes ex for the kids. If I have these calls starting on my house phone I know to start pointing out my finger.
