Now I don't want to come across as ungrateful. My daughter had her 21st birthday a few months ago, my sister sent her a card and then asked how old she was - didn't realise that it was a special birthday.

Anyway today she gave her a present for that birthday - a padded coat hanger.

Just what every 21 year old wants.

Aibu to think that this a pretty crap present?

That reminds me, my ex SIL got me yellow rubber washing up gloves one Christmas with a fake plastic ring on one of the fingers...I even think there was a naff poem inside the box...couldn't keep the 'WTF' look off my face as I opened them...she hated me Grin

I got a 'The Readers Digest Household Handy Tips' from my MIL about 15 years ago. Last year my two teenagers each got 'Manners for Teenagers'.

Metarie · 15/09/2013 10:42

My friend has one, it flashes. She finds it much more useful than a chocolate fire-guard Hmm

Though I can understand why Metarie would not find it useful, lots of hearing impaired people do find it useful.

Op any chance it's a 'teaser' present and there's something else - like a lovely dress - to follow?

If not then, yes, it's a shite present.

FamiliesShareGerms · 15/09/2013 12:06

I'm loving all these crap presents!!

Mil bought me a car air freshener for my birthday a few years ago. I didn't have a car then Confused
Padded hanger, one lone hanger. Strange alright.

Blissx · 15/09/2013 15:45

To be fair, at least she can use the coat hanger. A friend of mine's MIL bought her a saw for her birthday and then half a packet of Christmas embossed toilet paper later that year for Xmas (other DIL got the other half) YABU but only because there are worse presents out there.
