Because after shopping with a one and a three year old I need gin, and I don't even like gin, but I need it. And hot chocolate doesn't do enough, even with cream and marshmallows, the biscuit would help but ds1 takes that, even when they give me two. So aibu?

Quite a lot of independent cafes are licensed. Happy hunting!

Or buy a can of premixed and keep it in your bag for emergencies?

I had a rather harassed shopping outing with my dcs a while ago and in the middle of M&S declared rather too loudly 'I've got half a mind to buy one of those little bottles of wine and sip it in the car on the way home'...... The look of absolute shock on the face of the man standing near me was hilarious!

Lovely idea. Gin and cake, how yummy. Those tins of premixed gin and tonic are quite vile.

I always take a can of g&t to friends when visiting in hospital after they have had babies. I have been reliably informed on more than one occasion it's the best new baby present ever. Perhaps I should bring a cake also!

It's an ideal accompaniment to chess, in shabby cafes. Especially if you've just been released from Room 101 and are waiting for the longed-for bullet to enter your brain.

Ah, I RTFT and I see you all already know about them. They do taste a bit weird yes, I think it's the sweetener? Why you'd have a sweetener in G&T I don't know. But any port in a storm!

Have recently come back from a trip to Paris and was most impressed by the fact that even the most teashoppiest salon de the will sell you wine. Gin would have been even better... I love Gin in a Tin, it's saved my sanity on more than one camping trip!
