I just wanted to share my smuggery happiness with the world of Mumsnet by telling you that on this day almost a year ago (9th Sept), 6 weeks after DS2's birth, I weighed 98.3 kg and was verging on a size 22. I am 5 foot 5 and looked/felt very uncomfortable.

DH and I saw the Panorama documentary on 5:2 and decided to give it a go. After a year of counting calories, resisting the urge to hoover up my kid's leftovers and dreaming of the days when I would get to devour a Kitkat peanut butter chunky, I now weigh 80.3 kg and am a comfortable size 16 (I.e. not straining the sides).

I am probably coming across as the undisputed Queen of Smuggery, but thought that maybe I could inspire a few of you with my tale of pseudo-epic weight loss (18 kg, dude. 2.82 STONE. That's the combined weight of DS1 and DS2, if you chopped DS2's legs off).

Anyway. I have no mobility issues or health problems to speak of, so obviously that was an advantage. I just wanted to say that if I can do it, hopefully you can too. If you feel that you want to, that is! If not, carry on Grin

Good on you, Howler. That is amazing!!

FreudiansSlipper · 06/09/2013 23:29

Fantastic well done

How do you find the 5:2 eating plan?

HowlerMonkey · 06/09/2013 23:35

Hard at first but easy after a while. I found that if I got to lunchtime I'd be ok for the rest of the day. Mind you I used to have a fair whack of my calories then. I cheated a bit - I decided that 700 calories was my upper limit rather than 500. I also decided that salad leaves and tomatoes were calorie-free Blush

Celadorthepinksequineddragon · 06/09/2013 23:45

Hopasholic · 06/09/2013 23:53

I'm maintaining now, could do with losing another 4lbs but it just keeps boinging up and down Grin

Lilacroses · 06/09/2013 23:57

That's great!! Dp read your post and it has convinced her to give it a go. So there you go, you are inspiring people.

Garcia10 · 07/09/2013 00:01

Well done!

I've lost two stone from being 13 st 4 with WeightWatchers. Have found it really easy to and wish I had done it years ago. It's so simple and has just becomes a way of life. I'm ashamed that I was overweight before and wish I had done this much earlier in my life.

The recipes are great and my family enjoy the food too.

FrenchRuby · 07/09/2013 00:03

Well done!!
It's all about finding the diet that's right for you, I've lost 8stone in 2 years with slimming world :)

TheDetective · 07/09/2013 00:04

I weighed 103kg after DS2 earlier this year. I've lost 16kg in the last 4 months.

I'm doing Slimming World.

I never thought I could change my eating habits. Or lose weight!

It's a fecking miracle as far as I am concerned!

One question though - I weighed more than you, and am 5ft 2, but I was a size 18? I am now a 14-16. Depending where from.

Weird.

pinkandsparklytoo · 07/09/2013 00:04

Well done!
I have lost 5 stone since January with Slimming World. If I had known how easy it would be I would have joined years ago.

HowlerMonkey · 07/09/2013 18:31

Glad I have inspired somebody Grin and mega congratulations to all the rest of you who have shifted weight you didn't want! It is such a great feeling.....

Well done HowlerMonkey :)

CMOTDibbler · 07/09/2013 20:44

Well done!

A year ago, I weighed 90kg and was pretty unfit. I now weigh 67kg, am a size 10 comfortably, and next Sunday I'll be running a half marathon.

No fad diet, no personal trainer, just pig headed determination and MN support

KaFayOLay · 07/09/2013 21:35

89kg down to 63kg with WW, took 7 months and have now maintained for 5 months. Happy!

Well done OP and othetd, it's a great feeling ditching your 'fat' clothes.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 07/09/2013 22:01

3st 5lbs loss for me with Slimming World. Tried everything in the past, even online slimming tablets that led to me being treated for palpitations.
I was voted Woman of The Year for my group the other week Grin ..this is the most Ive ever lost and still have a long way to go.
Congraulations to you OP and everyone else for your amazing achievements

TeaLadyExtraordinaire · 07/09/2013 22:06

I've just started with Slimming World and have lost 10lbs so far. Got another 2 stone to go but......hey......we all have to start somewhere.

Well done OP !

englishbreakfast · 07/09/2013 23:32

Well done OP and everyone else on your weight loss! I've been on low carb since last October and have lost 4 stone, never thought I could do it. I've also gone from size 22 to 16 and feel amazing. I'd like to loose more weight, but am very happy with what I've achieved so far.

LaurieFairyCake · 07/09/2013 23:36

Well done. I've been doing it since February and have lost 2 stone but have had no weight loss for 8 weeks!

I love it and will never do anything else Smile
