The UK Border Agency has been in the news recently because they say that cut backs mean that they are not processing people correctly in an effort to speed up queuing times.
A few years ago they started doing Iris recognition and I signed up. It has been brilliant - I can breeze through in seconds without even having to get my passport out of my case.
However they stopped registering people and now they are phasing out the scanners at airports. Now only Heathrow terminal 3 and 5 have this system.
This seemed such a good idea - using the latest technology in a fool-proof manner. How come they are having problems but taking out this time saving method. A bit like the loss of Concorde it seems a retro-grade step.
