To be a bit cross about this?

My brother and sil asked dh and I to be godparents for their ds shortly after he was born (2 1/2 years ago). We were delighted, obviously said yes, then have heard very little about it. Odd times they've mentioned finding a date and it's fizzled out.
We have 2 children already, 3rd due in a few weeks and they've just announced that they've booked the christening for when dc3 will be 5 weeks old! They live a good 5 hour drive away and don't have room for us all to stay so it means expense of London hotel for the 5 of us, outfits, gifts etc 2 weeks before Christmas (they know i get no maternity pay) and a ridiculously stressful weekend. Aibu to be a bit miffed and wonder why the sudden rush?? Or are my hormones getting the better of me?

It is too much inconvenience and expense right before Christmas, can you just tell her that you can't manage it then. Tell her finances are too tight and ou don't think you can travel with the baby. She would BU not o understand. Just don't let her down last minute with some lame excuse.

Depending on the church you may be able to be godparent by proxy - which means that someone else stands in for you on the day but you remain as the godparent officially. Your dh could attend and someone else stand in for you, although that would leave you at home with 3 dc it would reduce the cost and maybe he could stay at theirs. Not a perfect solution but might be worth considering. It does seem rather inconsiderate of them considering the timeframe they have had. Maybe they've been looking at schools.....
