To think size 12 is not "heavy"

CruCru · 30/08/2013 18:51

I keep seeing comments on here from people who are size 10/12 who think they are heavy. I would never think this is even remotely heavy, just a healthy slim size.

Feel free to google her Russians; her Wikipedia entry will give you the basics, though will leave you none the wiser as to her relevance to this thread.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 02/09/2013 00:25

Former child star turned sexual provocateuse; not sure of her dress size.

Retroformica · 02/09/2013 07:18

Size 12 for me would be about 10 or 10.5 stone. So still a healthy BMI but on the heavier end of healthy.

I see 12 as average size wise for others. For me it would be uncomfortable. I'm only a bit smaller at a 10

When shall we three hundred thousand meet again?
In thunder, lightening or quite niace weather for September?
When the Hurleyburley of the school run done?

Fair is foul ..etc......... (witch icon if there was one)

Salbertina · 02/09/2013 07:26

More and more bizarre!
Only on MN could a weight-related thread veer off into poetry and discussion of witches & Miley thingy Grin

Retroformica · 02/09/2013 07:33

I know there is more to this thread but 28 pages is too much for me!

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 02/09/2013 08:41

Miley Cyrus does twerking and she used to be Hannah Montana.

CruCru · 02/09/2013 08:45

My goodness. I started this as a throwaway thought and it's in the high 600s. This is the longest thread I've ever started.

I still say that, if I met all you size 12s, I wouldn't think any of you were heavy.

OP posts:
RussiansOnTheSpree · 02/09/2013 08:54

I've googled now. But 'does twerking' and 'used to be Hannah Montana' are possibly even more opaque 'clues' than using her name!

RussiansOnTheSpree · 02/09/2013 08:58

cru The only way you can possibly say that is if you are declaring your determination to hold to a viewpoint even when presents with evidence to the contrary. Several of the size 12 posters to this thread have said they are overweight! Several have said the opposit, of course, and anyone of a decent height (sigh. Lucky lucky people) who is size 12 will probably be willowy and lovely. But unless you plan to ignore everyone short (which some of the more......excitable....posters to this thread appear determined to do) then I don't see how you can say that.....

You know what this thread is an example of? Shortism. There are clearly some people in the world who refuse to admit the existence of anyone my height or shorter. :(

Misspixietrix · 02/09/2013 09:24

YNBU. I would love to be a size 12 again ~

CruCru · 02/09/2013 09:25

I am a size 18. Even if you are 5 ft my perception is that you will not be fat if you are size 12.

Megamum2012, I think you'll find there is an obesity crisis at the moment....people are obese because they are overeat or don't do any exercise or have ruined their metabolism.....I'm not saying a size 12 is obese btw....but what i'm saying is that people can be slim without starving themselves and living on Rivitas, they just eat normally but you might want to check your own attitude, if you raise your kids to believe that slim people are only slim because they live on Rivitas then maybe your kids will think that's what they have to do if they want to be slim.

IcedCoffeeQueen · 02/09/2013 10:06

I think we are that used to seeing people carrying a little more extra weight that its become normal, despite still carrying lots of fat around my waist im frequently told I've lost enough weight, don't loose any more your getting too skinny.... by friends and family who happen to be bigger than me, dh has went from 21 stone to 9.5 and is looking fab, his bmi was morbidly obese and now he is a perfectly normal weight, the health professionals are thrilled with him but all throughout his weight loss from about 17 stone down everyone told him he was loosing to much when he clearly wasn't and trying to feed him junk.
Neither of us would touch a rivita (vile cardboard things!) and still eat plenty treats but neither of us want our sons to have weight problems and encourage healthy eating and fun exercise with treats thrown in

KatoPotato · 02/09/2013 10:08

This is getting epic! I've put a profile pic of me now as a size 12. I've worked had to get here from an 18/20. I'm 5ft 3 btw.

I'm super fit now, I dead lift 110kg I can beat all the men at push ups, and can hold a one arm plank for 6 minutes (before I get bored)

But you know what? I still have a tummy you can grab a good handful of, If I sit down from a side view I still have rolls. Like a previous poster, my 12 jeans (Primark - not sure of vanity?) fasten but there's still fat shoved in there.

However I feel I want to go try a vanity 10 in Next now!

KatoPotato · 02/09/2013 10:09

Oops, forgot my own point! - So yes, I still want to work on losing this fat, Not sure what size I'll be by then!

5madthings · 02/09/2013 10:26

Bloody well down kato you look amazing!

BTW when pinching the fat, you should pinch vertically and not horizontally, I mistake I was making, so you will be suprisd there is less than you think!

I am 5 2, my size 10 are snug and size 12 is lose, my bmi is 25, I need to lose 7-10lb. I could easily put on another 10lb and still if not more and still fit in my size 12 but would def be overweight!

ArtemisatBrauron · 02/09/2013 10:35

wow, Kato you look great!! Grin

KatoPotato · 02/09/2013 10:39

Ahhh... 5madthings I like this tip!

Mominatrix · 02/09/2013 10:47

This topic comes up about 3 times a year, and each time I argue that my size 4-6 on my 5'2" frame is not unhealthy or skeletal. No clue what I weight, and I don't own a scale and don't weight myself. I also don't diet and eat loads of carbs. I have a healthy attitude towards food - something pleasurable and sustaining to be enjoyed in moderation, and exercise. Everytime, someone like pinup comes and says that I am anorexic and unhealthy. To finally prove otherwise, I have posed a shot taken this morning on my profile - I will remove this shortly as I am not the kind of person who like bikini shots readily available of myself.

We are all built differently and cannot make blanket statements on size/weight issues!

5madthings · 02/09/2013 10:52

You need to make your profile public mom but I am sure you are perfectly fine! I am 5 2 and healthy at a size 10 but have wide hips and massive boobs, no matter how small my bottom half gets my boobs stay big, I have got down to am 8 I'm jeans but my top half stays the same, and I start to look out of proportion. I have friends the same,w height who are petite all over like you and they are fine. Some people have a different build.

5madthings · 02/09/2013 10:53

Can see it now, you are clearly just petite all over and perfectly in proportion, not skeletal at all! Nice bikini! Grin

WorraLiberty · 02/09/2013 10:54

Wow! You look amazing KatoPotato and you too Mominatrix

Bahhhhhumbug · 02/09/2013 11:06

I'm 5ft 7ins and can still get into a size 12 in jeans where they are generous sizes eg M&S.

I am nearly 12 stone however (just lost a few pounds so on the way down finally) and l have never been heavier and felt so unhappy about my weight. I feel massive. But possibly because I was just below 9 stone for most of my adult life and a perfect size 8 , so now l feel mahoosive no matter what anyone tells me.

What happened ? - became a cream cake eating couch potato at a very stressful time in my life the menopause, maybe ? Find it very hard to shake weight off since l hit 50.
