To want my sister and friend to meet me earlier.

Long story short. I live in London, friend and sister are in Kent. We have arranged to see a show with my eldest and I booked us a table for dinner before hand. This is for my birthday and we also said that we would go to Harrods/Hamleys before hand. Now realistically if they met me at 3pm would we have enough time to do this and get to the show for 7pm. I think not but apparently according to my sister I'm a twat and making her feel bad because I think she should at least be here for 1pm if not midday to make the most of it so we don't have to rush around. I hardly see her I just wanted a nice relaxed day :(

Why doesn't she want to meet earlier?

Tallulaxx · 30/08/2013 16:12

Because she has things to do in the morning but long and short she can't be arsed to get up in the morning and my friend no doubt will have gone out the night before and got hammered. Sorry probably just over sensitive but its been planned for weeks!

You go out earlier by yourself, treat yourself to a nice lunch and a wander around the shops until its time to meet them.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, hope you have a lovely day and they make a fuss of you when they do get to you Smile

4 HOURS isn't enough time? YABU. Two hours of shopping, two hours for dinner.

Tallulaxx · 30/08/2013 17:00

Its not going to be just 2 hrs for shopping 2 hrs for dinner its the travelling around too!

YABU. you've got plenty of time. Presumably you're not going to go for food before about 5pm anyway? You go a bit earlier if you want, meet them there and then go for food.

God.. an hour's shopping is enough for me, and it doesn't take that long to get around central London.

CaptainSweatPants · 30/08/2013 17:04

Can't you do dinner after the show if it starts at 3pm ?

CaptainSweatPants · 30/08/2013 17:05

Oops show is at 7pm

Tbh I wouldn't want to meet in the morning either otherwise it's a v long day

Kent & London aren't exactly far you can visit all the time!

Soontobemama · 30/08/2013 17:10

I would want to meet earlier too. Harrods and Hamleys are not near each other and both will be heaving. You can easily spend an hour in Hamleys alone.

Jinsei · 30/08/2013 17:10

Sorry, but yabu and rather demanding. They are travelling into London for your birthday, so they've given you the whole afternoon and evening already. Maybe they don't want to spend hours in Harrods or Hamleys - I wouldn't!

Jinsei · 30/08/2013 17:11

Why do you want to spend your birthday in Hamleys, anyway? Confused

thebody · 30/08/2013 17:12

oh yes go earlier so you and dd do hamleys with dd first and maybe lunch. the others probably won't be interested in Hamleys really.

then plenty of time for harrods dinner and show.

RobotHamster · 30/08/2013 17:12

Why don't you do Hamleys, then meet them for 3pm at Harrods?

Jinsei · 30/08/2013 17:18

Good suggestion.

MortifiedAdams · 30/08/2013 17:22

YABU for wanting to go to Hamleys. Biggest shop let down ever.

ihearsounds · 30/08/2013 17:22

It is enough time. Not like you are going to be doing loads of shopping.

mysteryfairy · 30/08/2013 19:48

Is your eldest a small child then? Maybe the Hamleys trip is best to be just you and her as she will want to look for longer than a child free adult is likely to be able to endure. What time is the meal booked for? Surely you can just work back from that to work out when to meet at Harrods?

Hope you have a fab day out.
