To think I may have detected paranormal activity on my office CCTV

I had CCTV installed last week and it is motion detected. I was messing around looking at playback and at around 4 am and 10 pm everyday- when No one is in the office the camera starts wobbling up and down erratically and the screen flashes to blue and then back to normal. At first I thought it was a technical fault so the technician from the CCTV company came out and in all her years working with systems she has never seen anything like it. She said the only thing that would cause this would be a large bang on the door or walls. I have double checked with all staff and no one has been in at these times. Just plain weird. Can anyone offer an explanation?

Is there anything which could be making a loud bang at those times? Maybe the doors of a adjoining building being slammed which is vibrating across the building? That's the only thing I can think of, sorry.

Maybe you need to camp out in the office overnight to see what's going on!

Arnie123 · 29/08/2013 15:53

No it is the end building on the street and it is on the first floor so no passers by could be banging the window from the outside.

Lorry going past? Fire engine? The fact it's more or less on the hour is reassuring. It it night security somewhere?

Onesleeptillwembley · 29/08/2013 16:00

Could it be a timed boiler on a shared wall? Heating?

Onesleeptillwembley · 29/08/2013 16:00

Vibrating water pipes?

SomethingOnce · 29/08/2013 16:02

WhereYouLeftIt · 29/08/2013 16:15

Are you anywhere near a rail line, and that's when freight trains go past?

Arnie123 · 29/08/2013 16:19

Nowhere near a rail line. The CCTV technician has just removed the box and is taking it to her superiors as she is totally perplexed by it. One of my ex cleaners is a paranormal investigator so if the CCTV company cannot explain it next week I will be calling him. The funny thing is when the man installed it I asked him if his cameras had ever caught a ghost and he looked at me like I was mental ( I am aware I may possibly acting a bit mental on this thread!)

There's an explanation for it in this cctv car video. It's quite a common phenomenon:

loopylou6 · 29/08/2013 16:45

sometimes pipes rattle as the building cools and settles, could it be that? I'm very woo tho so hoping it's something spooky Grin

Fake book!

That was fucking brilliant,

FreyaSnow · 29/08/2013 23:00

It's not very exciting paranormal activity, is it?

Given the regularity, it is more likely just to be something like a heating system or similar.

HairyGrotter · 29/08/2013 23:04

I lost many a mate from that link, Fakebook, excellent call!

OP, it would appear some level of vibration is occurring, and it ain't ghostly cause they don't exist

SolidGoldBrass · 29/08/2013 23:09

Ah, Fakebook, you beat me to it. OP, is your alleged IT technician a particularly gullible twat or what?
