It's not funny.

And we're not in the middle ages.

Thank you.

Oh, Malcolm, that is sad, he died from an AIDS related illness :(

MardyBra · 28/08/2013 22:03

I think the Methinkers are the ones who keep using 'tis too.

I googled Timothy Claypole. He appears to be after my time. Confused

I like the odd tis and twas
Tis poetic, innit?
But then I also use innit far too much than I ought.

YouTheCat · 28/08/2013 22:10

Prithee Sirrah, thou art so unreasonable!

Methinks thou should take the bug out of your ass. Grin

Shaky · 28/08/2013 22:14

Shock I didn't know that Timothy Claypole was dead. 'Tis a real shame, methinks Sad

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 28/08/2013 23:02

Stealth boast, mardy, clearly you are much much younger than those of us who remember Timothy claypole.

MardyBra · 28/08/2013 23:08

It's not a stealth boast at all calculators. I was saying he's after my time. Kids' telly for me was John Noakes, Shep, Valerie Singleton, The Clangers and Fingermouse.

GrimmaTheNome · 28/08/2013 23:15

Yeah, I'd never heard of him either, Shep generation too. Still not old enough to warrant using archaic language (other than under the provocation of this thread).

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 29/08/2013 13:49

Sorry, mardy, was only a joke as I thought you were saying you were too young Blush I do remember Shep too.

nocarsgo · 29/08/2013 13:58

"Methinks" doesn't mean "I think", so 99.9% of people who use "methinks" are using it incorrectly anyway Grin

SomethingOnce · 29/08/2013 14:17

Shock about Timothy Claypole.

EhricLovesTeamQhuay · 29/08/2013 14:53

Yanbu. And Olivia, tis and 'twas aren't poetic, they are annoying (sorry). You know what else is annoying? T'internet. It's in every mnhq 'don't send money to this poster' warning. It's not witty, it's completely dated and it's also very out of place in a serious message.
Sorry to bring it up now but it niggles me every time I see it!

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 29/08/2013 16:55

I hate people writing 'Tis'. NO. NOT FUNNY.
