to be quite hacked off with my friend?

Friend text me and asked to go to a theme park with the day next month.

It was during the week, so I said probably not as I might not be able to get it off work and I don't want to use too much holiday anyway as I plan on leaving my job soon and will have to pay whatever holiday I use back.

Anyway she went on and on about doing it so I agreed and booked it off, asked her who else was going and it was two people who I do like but I'm not friends with.

Then last night she said to me "oh I might not be able to go now". Her reason being that we have a mutual friends wedding anniversary party that evening and she might need to help our friend decorate the room.

She already knew the party was on this day.

Aibu to be quite peed off?

YANBU. Especially since it's a 'might'. I'd be mortified if I was her and be bending over backwards not to inconvenience anyone. Some people just don't give two shits though do they.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 28/08/2013 14:00

Cancel your holiday booking with work and say tell your friend you can't hang around on a maybe so you definately won't be going.

pictish · 28/08/2013 14:01

Yanbu - she persisted in pushing the idea and you took time off work especially.
Fucking rude!

SkinnybitchWannabe · 28/08/2013 14:04

YADNBU.
Thats very rude of her.
I agree with Ifcats cancel your days holiday if you can.
Or if work wont let you change it have a day out somewhere else.

ByeByeBirdiee · 28/08/2013 14:06

Thank you, I wasn't sure if I was being harsh because her excuse might be reasonable.

It's just that she knew the party was on the same day because when she first asked I said yes but it's X's party that night and she said I know but don't worry we'll be home in plenty of time.

Yanbu, after all the pushing you into it and you even taking a day off she thinks it's acceptable to just change her mindShock. Surely she knew about the party in advanceHmm

grobagsforever · 28/08/2013 14:28

YANBU unless your friend is called tidydancer and gluezilla has beaten her into compliance.

StanleyLambchop · 28/08/2013 14:34

Gro - I was just wondering the same thing- is this Tidy's gluey friend's wedding? That would be kind of awesome- that wedding spawning yet another AIBU thread!

YourHandInMyHand · 28/08/2013 14:38

Can you cancel your day's leave?

I wouldn't have booked it off in the first place but I realise it's no good looking back now. Are you by any chance the driver of this possible day out? If so I think your "friend" is a user.

ByeByeBirdiee · 28/08/2013 15:24

I've not read the tiny dancer thread, or read much of it. But the party is an anniversary one not a wedding which I thought TinyDancers was.

I'm not the driver for the event either.
