I ave been a single mother since april 2012 when I left my son´s "father" (who is now no contact - his choice not mine). I left an emotional wreck, nervous, shaken and fragile.

So in August 2012 I decided to take up a martial art so that I would never feel afraid like I had done again.

Today...I had my first muay thai fight. I fought at 53kg. It was a non decision bout (always the case with the first fight) against a girl who had been training twice as long as me....and I held my own and was told that it looked pretty evenly matched. I had nothing but a bit of a bloody nose. And I have posted it in the Lone parents acheivement thread too....but I have just got home, my little boy is with his grandparents for the day and I am still buzzing!!

I feel proud. And confident. And very very happy.

Women....take up muay thai!! you´ll feel confident, fit and happy, and you will get so much support and community from your gym.

Best. Thing. Ever. (apart from my son, naturally!!)

Would you mind terribly if I let myself go a little bit more and took up sumo wrestling instead?

Seriously, well done, and congratulations, that's fantastic! :)
