Depends on how inconvenient it would be for him, does he have meetings etc to reschedule? On how close you were to great-aunt, and whther him NOT taking a day off means that you can't go or whether you would like company. Sorry to hear that you have had a bereavement Thanks

I wanted him to take the day off so that i could go. Him stay at home to watch the kids.
Yes i was close to my aunt. Visited when i ha he DCs, always sent birthday/xmas cards to each other. Was always in her house because she and her husband (my grandads brother) lived next door to my grandparents. So her grandchildren (my secodm cousins) and me and my sister were always together as youngsters in either grandparents houses.

I'm shocked you even need to ask!

Of course he should take the day off and look after the kids!

Failing that, they could go to a holiday scheme for all/part of the day if old enough.

My DMIL is coming over to watch them now!! Thank god for her!! She is a diamond Smile

It's great that your MIL is coming over to look after your children but you do need to have a discussion with DH. This shouldn't have been an issue at all. I think nearly everyone would have taken a day of in these circumstances. Perhaps he needs to assess his priorities?

Sorry for your loss.
