I do everything for my sons wash their clothes, cook their meals, pay for their hobbies, I'm very attached to them and they are my world.

Granted they are 4, 2 and 4 months but should I be worried that I'm going to turn into one of those horrendous mil that appear in mn threads?

I'm trying to think of an age appropriate chore for a 4 months old. Cleaning the floor? Just dress him in J-cloths.

MrsAlanKey · 22/08/2013 00:17

I think am am going to be awful in the 'MIL didn't offer to buy the cot or pram and hardly ever babysits unless it's at her own convenience' way

VileWoman · 22/08/2013 00:27

Since I suspect I'm already not a great daughter in law (MIL not terrible but we are very different and have nothing in common) I look forward to being a terrible mother in law.

FreudiansSlipper · 22/08/2013 00:31

I am no longer worried after ds (5) told me he is going to live with me for ever and ever Grin

squoosh · 22/08/2013 00:32

You will wear a full length white gown to their weddings and wail 'I'll always be the love of your life. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah' to your sons as they stand at the altar.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 22/08/2013 00:34

I am the perfect MiL
I only visit when they invite me, I only phone when I have something specific to ask them, and although I am their friend on FB, I never ever post anything "out in public" on their walls or comment on anything they say
This is my cunning plan to lull no1 son and his fiance into a false sense of security so that when they eventually decide to produce my pfgc precious first grandchild I can swoop in and make a complete nuisance of myself help and they won't be expecting it at all Grin

Celadorhasacatandawaveequation · 22/08/2013 01:42

I'll be a nightmare MIL. DS is perfect and can do no wrong and any woman lucky enough to marry him is an evil interloperhad better be good to him Grin.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/08/2013 02:26

Well your DSs better be nice if they marry my DD. Angry

emblosion · 22/08/2013 03:19

Heheh, Squoosh, I'm so doing that. Future dil's beware, you will never be good enough - FACT.

Nospringchickendipper · 22/08/2013 07:28

No woman will ever be good enough for my son so I intend to be the MiL from hell.To my future son in law I will be the most fantastic MiL that has ever existedSmile

MammaTJ · 22/08/2013 07:38

My DD is moving in with her BF this weekend, so I look forward to being an awful MIL!! Grin

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 22/08/2013 07:46

OP, I have 3 older boys( men really ) and I know if I didn't hold back I would be a MIL from hell. The thought of any one of my DSs thinking of me in a negative way will keep me firmly in my place.

itried · 22/08/2013 07:51

The sad thing is that some of you aren't joking. Wonder why so many women have partners who are lazy, entitled cocklodgers

LisaMed · 22/08/2013 08:21

ds decided he was getting married at age four. Two and a half years later they are still going steady and have lasted longer than some marriages. Today he and his young lady are going for a day out (with me and her dad)

I hoped I would have a bit longer to face up to mother-in-law. Though she is a lovely little girl.

SPsTotallyMullerFuckingLicious · 22/08/2013 08:35

My son is nearly 4 and he has a 'girlfriend' She is a year younger. He shares everything with her but not with me.

I think she is only in it for the chocolate and his scooter and he is only in it as she makes him feel younger and she has an electric scooter.

GrumpyRedhead · 22/08/2013 10:10

I worry that I'll be a bit of a nightmare MIL. We don't have much family or many friends, so there is a very real chance that the next newborn I get to hold will be a grandchild! And I won't want to let go!

Luckily my eldest is a girl so I have to hope she's the first to have DCs then I can keep them all for myself

magimedi · 22/08/2013 11:46

My DS got married earlier this year & I am delighted that he now has another woman in his life. Far less for me to worry about!
