I think someone needs to get over themselves.

Mad My cake doesn't even exist yet as I have spent the entire afternoon/evening on MN. I'm starting to sympathise with the OP too......

I'm confused as to why it is so difficult to get stuff, unless you live in the middle of nowhere like me. But then why say yes? Confused

Are yo really being serious? I think your friend should go to someone more professional than you as you don't sound very nice at all.

no way I would be able to get anything delivered in that time

Are you a resident of mainland UK? I have literally just this minute checked out a Tesco online order which is being delivered tomorrow and I'm currently rinsing Amazon for supplies for our trip on Friday....

I live in a small town and even i could get any cake decorations I needed.

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, and you don't drive and there's no public transport then I think YABU.

That's not me giving you any rude shit btw, just confused as to why its so difficult to get the decorations you need?!

Can't think for the life of me why I'm posting on a cupcake thread, but here goes anyway.

Is it the fancy decorating stuff that you need? Don't you already have some in stock if you bake professionally? I have never made cakes for money, but even I have a cupboard full of sparkly sprinkles and a few food colourings knocking around.

3 days for 20 cakes does seem doable, but maybe I've misunderstood.

So, what is it you are struggling to get hold of within the time frame allowed?

I do some cakes for money... 3 days is more than do-able, for 20 very easily, for 200 definitely possible. Day 1- go to town of some kind and get supplies, day 2- bake cakes and make any decorations that need drying time like flowers etc, day 3- decorate cakes. Job done! Smile

I can't bake for shit, it is very possible it would take me 3 days to make 20 flat cupcakes that rabid toddlers may eat.

P.s I don't need a tirade of 'oh it's fricking easy to bake'! Grin

So, how many were the cupcakes?

And have you said yes (OP) or no (update)?
One anniversary or two?
Confusing.

OP, What is it that you need to get ? I think sugarshack do overnight orders so they could be worth a punt.

When i've had very last minute orders before i do them strictly on the understanding that they would be getting whatver i had to hand. I feel your pain, having moved from a town with 3 sugarcraft suppliers, a hobbycraft and a lakeland to one where i can't buy so much as a 12" box, you dont realise how tricky it is to get things if you're not near a large town with, ahem, middle class shops.

HoneyDragon I made one in the end. But it was a total shambles. I realised once the pans were in the oven that I'd used the wrong flour. So I whipped them out to add some baking powder, only to fumble and accidentally tip an entire pan of raw sponge mix down the oven door and into the hinge. It was the most horrendous mess... although PruPuppy thought licking the dripping batter was a jolly wheeze. I can only conclude that karma has bitten me on the arse good and proper after my behaviour on this thread.

Zing tickers are like signatures which appear under your comment in some forums, they're generally sneered at and rightly so round these parts.

  1. you didn't ask an AIBU
  2. you say she must have known you couldn't get the stuff, but you said yes, which means you must be able to get it or you're just shit stirring
  3. I could make 20 cupcakes in an hour. Why do you need 3 days?

ps I don't need rude shit

Well that's probably a good thing, I don't think they sell that next day delivery on Amazon.

But you can get cake decorations.

MamaMumra · 21/08/2013 23:49

You've already agreed I presume? 20 cupcakes can be done in no time - have you seen cupcake wars?

Spell it out in sprinkles ? Candles. ?

MidniteScribbler · 22/08/2013 00:56

Huh? Twenty cupcakes is half a day, tops.

Or is it one of those "just because I'm home all day she shouldn't expect me to drop everything to help her out" AIBUs? We're all supposed to sympathise that the OP has very busy and important things to do dammit.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere?
No shops, no shopping delivery, no Internet to do shopping delivery (but you're on MN so maybe not)?
No oven or bowl perhaps?
I don't see the problem!
