I'm bfing and poor ds has a reflux so everything I wear ends up covered in sick/milk.
I can't find anything that won't look awful if I end up covered & I'm able to feed on.than a floaty black maxi.
I was going to team it with chunky gold wedges and bag and a chunky necklace

I think that sounds great Grin. I've worn black to a wedding, and there were guests in black at mine.

BuskersCat · 20/08/2013 13:58

No, it's on a par with turning up wearing a bridal gown.

BuskersCat · 20/08/2013 13:58

Also you will really see milk sick on black, you need a beigey/brown colour.

mrspaddy · 20/08/2013 13:59

Totally fine IMO.. I only own black dresses and in your situation I think it is perfect. I would dress up the dress though with some colour... Nice pashmina and drop earrings.

Justforlaughs · 20/08/2013 14:00

I'd have thought that plain black would show up sick far more than a colourful, patterned outfit tbh. I don't have a problem with wearing black to a wedding (I did it once) but I think your logic is more of an excuse.

QueenofallIsee · 20/08/2013 14:00

You will be fine in that - though it is perhaps not what is traditional on a female guest, I have been to many summer weddings where guests have gone with a maxi and no bride has ever had a hissy fit.

Don't wear a veil though

BrokenSunglasses · 20/08/2013 14:00

If you can find something else, then do.

MrsBucketxx · 20/08/2013 14:01

No think of the photos, youll stick out like a sore thumb.A big black blob ( not that your blob shaped iykwim)

Could you not borrow anything.

EvieanneVolvic · 20/08/2013 14:02

Agree with your second point Buskers but your first is nonsense imho. Ditsy I think your outfit sounds lovely and I would be proud for you to attend any wedding of mine in it...but as Busker says, won't sick show up on it??

EatingAllTheCrumpets · 20/08/2013 14:03

Personally as long as you're not wearing a dress that looks like a wedding dress, or a bridesmaids dress you'll be fine!

I noticed a couple of people in black at my wedding, one teamed it with red accessories and the other with pink. Both looked lovely.

Dorris83 · 20/08/2013 14:11

Sounds lovely, definitely wear it. I've worn black to a wedding before, with nice accessories and a cream pashmina, perfectly reasonable. Why ate to planning to do with your hair and what shoes are you wearing? Hair loose and pretty sandals would look lovely and bohemian.

primallass · 20/08/2013 14:17

Black dresses are practically the uniform at most weddings I have been to.

somersethouse · 20/08/2013 14:23

Complete myth that you can't wear black to a wedding. I always go for midnight blue or something but have also worn black, the last wedding I went to nearly everyone was in black and the men all had dark suits on! Everyone looked really classy.

I had a city wedding, small, and most women wore black to that - very smart.

The gold shoes and so on will make you look glamorous. Have a lovely time.

I've just had to buy a dress for a wedding, I'm BFing too. Patterns disguise puke/dribble marks much better than a block colour, especially black. A black maxi dress isn't very weddingy. Have you looked for a colourful crossover dress?

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/08/2013 14:59

Agree with PPs that plain black is about the worst for milk showing up.
