Please note this hasn't actually happened it was a dream, but I've woken up in a fury about this and wonder if dream me was being unreasonable?

You arrange to meet a friend in town by phone. She agrees but moans and moans she doesn't have any nice shoes to wear.

Whilst waiting you pop into a shop and buy her some nice shoes.

She turns up, you give her the shoes, we walk about town with shoes in the bag.

I suggest taking them back if she doesn't want them, she agrees, we take shoes back and she puts the money in her purse

I ask for money and say I'll put it towards our dinner. She wants to keep money and says it hers. Is it hers now?

Well hypothetically you did give her a gift of shoes, and it is the recipients choice what to do with that gift. A bit rude of her to return them whilst you were there though. But I would say the money is legally hers, although I wouldn't speak to her again

Have you tried a hot cocoa? Grin

I think you should just dream that you won the lottery and then this wouldn't be as much of an issue.

And I also think dream friend was very ungrateful!!

Well, if you took back the Monet you'd have more than enough to cover the cost of the shoes, OP....Wink

Seems extreme though. I'd hang on to it until you're in the market for a new outfit at least.

DrDance · 20/08/2013 07:35

Grin I know it sounds daft but I'm meeting her later and I don't want to now (because of the shoe incident)

It was a gift so she's entitled to keep the money, but morally wrong to do so. I advise that dream you buys things on a dream debit/credit card from now on; would prevent dream her from getting a cash refund.
