To detest robbie Williams' lyrics

So trite, so meaningless and yet so smug. They always sound like he thinks he's being oh so clever and witty. I give you:

Every single morning
Wake up in the afternoon
Cover up the mirror
Just to get a better view
Been around the world and never even left the room

I mean really. It just doesn't make sense and has no purpose. It's like he's imitating talented yricists/writers who can successfully work on different levels. But this just doesn't!

And

Ring a ring of roses
Whoever gets the closest
She comes and she goes
As the war of the roses
Mother was a victim
Father beat the system
By moving bricks to Brixton
And learning how to fix them

Roses- rhymes with closest, which rhymes with...uh....roses! And it's all a pile of meaningless shite!!

I flippin' love the song Candy Blush

He posted an explanation of the lyrics to Candy.

littlemisswise · 18/08/2013 15:55

I love Robbie.

I think a lot of his lyrics refer to his struggles with everyday life, too.

WhatsWithTheDecaf · 18/08/2013 16:11

No I have not experienced depression

I know he has, yes

It still doesn't mean I think his lyrics are loaded with meaning. I think he does though and he'd like you to think that too. Just like someone with a broken heart believes their love poetry contains the truest and most insightful words written, when often it's just trite guff. It strikes me as quite juvenile.

Anyway- it looks like they're not all his lyrics after all that! I am a bit sad about the Gary Barlow thing now!!

Loathe GB really smug and don't know what women see in him although he can write a catchy tune.

HeySoulSister · 18/08/2013 16:14

So which artists do you like then op?

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 18/08/2013 16:15

YANBU, I don't like his songs although they're inoffensive which is better than some songs.

WhatsWithTheDecaf · 18/08/2013 16:18

Oh tonnes of artists, but I really like that Blurred Lines song at the moment!

I always thought Rock DJ was Bout being a maasive coke head. The video is him taking hia skin off isn't it?
Quite like that one.

LadyBryan · 18/08/2013 16:26

He's one of the countless people in today's celebrity culture that I look at and wonder how someone with so little talent made it so big

KellyHopter · 18/08/2013 16:33

He is talented!

He struts his lardy self around a stage warbling in a semi-ironic manner to songs written by someone else, and gurns in a way that seems to please middle aged women.

Don't tell me that's not a talent!

Snatchoo · 18/08/2013 16:37

Well, YAB a bit U about the lyrics as most tend to be utter bollocks.

However, Robbie Williams in general makes my skin crawl, such a smug look on his simian face.

I remember a thread when his baby was born, someone said a pic of him with the baby 'made her ovaries twang'. Ewwww. IMO Robbie spoiled the whole picture!

Snatchoo · 18/08/2013 16:38

dopeysheep I admit I caught part of an interview about Rock DJ where he basically admitted the lyrics made no sense at all but fit nicely to the music!

NaiceHamIsNaice · 18/08/2013 16:43

He has a baby? I thought he was gay?

ChuffMuffin · 18/08/2013 17:13

If we're talking about nonsensical lyrics I have two words for you.. Arctic Monkeys.

For most of their songs its like they got one of those spam email generating programs, mashed it a few times and put the results in to a song. I like their music but their songs make zero fucking sense!

Madamecastafiore · 18/08/2013 17:15

He is detestable.

(I love Gary though.)

dopeysheep · 18/08/2013 18:35

He has a little girl.called Theadora. I tbink that's her name. And he is married.
I thought he was gay too.
Really Snatch? That's my theory scuppered then! Tis a catchy tune though.

Snatchoo · 18/08/2013 18:59

Well I guess he could have been lying!

I quite like that one too. I prefer the ones like that though, than where he's trying to be oh so deep and meaningful and clever.

I like lyrics to make sense but not necessarily to try and make me think. I'm a philistine though clearly as I don't like poetry!

sooperdooper · 18/08/2013 19:15

He's a massive self obsessed idiot I can't bear his oh poor little me aren't I cute face he still pulls when he's almost 40!?

And he doesn't write most of his lyrics or his music

I went to see take that and for some unknown reason half way through it irritatingly turned into a Robbie solo gig?? Ugh irritating little man, his only talent is how on earth he's got away with it for so long

AdoraBell · 18/08/2013 20:20

Ah, yes of course you like Blurred Lines, it makes sense. Nothing ambiguos or iligical about that song at all.

AdoraBell · 18/08/2013 20:21

Ilógical bloody sausage fingers

Ifancyashandy · 18/08/2013 20:24

been around the world and never the the room ... Having toured on rock on roll tours; this. Totally.

KellyHopter · 18/08/2013 20:26
