We're going on holiday this afternoon. DP announced at 8am he needed to go to work as there was a sudden crisis (true and one of teh dangers of having a self employed partner) and disappeared leaving me to finish off packing, sorting out dc's finish packing clean fridge and deal with the myriad of things that always seem to need doing just before a holiday.

DS was nicely dressed then exploded his nappy so had to be redressed.

One suitcase turned out to be broken so had to repack in one less suitcase.

I took the eggs out of the fridge intending to give children scrambled eggs and the whole box collapsed and I had suddenly had 10 broken eggs all over me the floor and 1 year old DS.

Cleared it all up with the help of the cat who was the only one pleased about the situation.

Did an extra wash full of eggy and pooey clothes and hung it up.

Gave up took children and self to local cafe and let dd choose whatever she bl**dy well liked.

NOW DP home and saying I shouldn't have taken them to cafe as they'll get enough treats on holiday.

AIBU to throw myself on the floor and have a tantrum and let dp sort everything else out

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 17/08/2013 12:32

ThisWayForCrazy · 17/08/2013 12:34

I'd tell him that unless he has something constructive to say then he could fuck off.

TheProsAndConsOfHitchhiking · 17/08/2013 12:34

Yanbu! Hope you have a good holiday op!

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 17/08/2013 12:34

But their holiday starts today, so the treats are all part of holiday conditions! YANBU.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 17/08/2013 12:35

Completely reasonable. You had no other option as far as I can see.

Have a lovely holiday and hopefully your DH will cheer up soon Thanks

gamerchick · 17/08/2013 12:35

Have the tantrum.. bloody men sometimes.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 17/08/2013 12:36

I think dp is upset about having to work this morning to be honest and jealous he likes chocolate fudge cake

Cheesyslice · 17/08/2013 12:37

This is the kind of situation which demands chocolate cake, milkshake and just chocolate in general.

McNewPants2013 · 17/08/2013 12:37

yanbu.

I wouldn't bother cleaning the fridge either

NoComet · 17/08/2013 12:40

YANBU, meals out and takeaways just before, after holidays are 100% allowed.

Both to prevent needing to shop and placate DCs neglected by packing/unpacking and the endless washing.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 17/08/2013 12:42

LOL Mcnewpants you would if you had my fridge. The prospect of coming back to it in 10 days once it ahd rotted in is not one I can allow myself to contemplate.

Still its done now and at least there will be no bad eggs Grin

Not in the slightest.

foslady · 17/08/2013 12:57

This is the holiday - it started for your children with a 'holiday' breakfast, that's all. And my God, I think you needed it!

Enjoy your hols

ouryve · 17/08/2013 12:57

Good grief, YANBU!

pigletmania · 17/08/2013 12:59

Yanbu does everyone have to seek approval from Mumsnet before they do things

CleverWittyUsername · 17/08/2013 13:00

YANBU. Sod it. Holiday started a bit early.

InTheRedCorner · 17/08/2013 13:00

I think you made the right decision and I would be telling my DH that his opinion wasn't needed but thank him for sharing. Smile

Enjoy your holiday!
