WIBU to shove the vacuum cleaner up his arse?

DP and I flatshare with another guy. We've had constant problems with him doing absolutely bugger all around the flat - all our crockery etc. is communal so if he doesn't do his share, we have to do it if we want to eat off clean plates!

Anyway, this morning DP went off to work and I started on housework around 9. Stuck some laundry on, made the bed, took the bins out, did the dishes, fed the flatmates cats (as he never bothers) etc etc. Then I decided to get the vacuum out and do our room and the hall.

Flatmate had the gall to complain that I woke him up. (It was nearer 10am at this point). As I'd done all his dishes, fed his cats etc, WIBU to shove the vacuum cleaner up is arse?!

YANBU, shove away. also i'd cram a cat or two up there while you're at it.

ViviPru · 15/08/2013 11:22

Would I Be Unreasonable to, or Was I?! Grin

Flatsharing must be horrendous. No doubt you're pursuing all possible avenues to find a place just you and DP?

WandaDoff · 15/08/2013 11:24

No, shove the vacuum in his hand & the mop up his arse.

Then he can mop while he's hoovering. Grin

Vivi definitely. We're here to save money, basically. As soon as possible, we're fucking off, haha.

I hope you told the lazy bastard where to go.

livinginwonderland · 15/08/2013 11:36

I may or may not have carried on vacuuming for at least ten minutes longer than I had to.

Get your own cutlery/crockery and stop feeding his cats? Is he a friend of yours or a stranger? Would a rota work?

thebody · 15/08/2013 11:41

this would drive me insane. yes shove it right up dear.😄

and move ASAP.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 15/08/2013 11:48

Not only would I have carried on vacuuming, but I would have found it totally necessary to vacuum the bit of carpet right outside his bedroom door over and over, possibly "accidentally" bumping into the door a few times for good measure.

What a twat.

Hope you and your DP find somewhere else asap!

livinginwonderland · 15/08/2013 11:53

crinkle - we have to feed the cats. They're indoor animals and I can't just leave them without food. They whine if they don't get fed and I would feel cruel leaving them without just because their owner is a lazy sod.

He's more of an acquaintance. We knew the people who lived here before us, and that's how we got the room. We've tried rotas and discussions, nothing's worked - but the place is dirt cheap (we only pay £250 a month for both of us) so it's just something we're gonna have to put up with until we can move out, frustrating as it is!

Thanks smite! Me too, or I'll have to buy a new vacuum cleaner!

Get your own plates etc and get a lock for your cupboard. If he leaves his stuff to go disgusting dump it all in his bed.

Argh, this brings back memories of sharing a house with the world's laziest man in the late 1990s. In three years of sharing a house he never once cleaned the loo or or anywhere else, voluntarily did any washing up, or so much as change a loo roll. He'd suggest we have house parties then get the rest of us to do all the work while he spent the whole day making a mix tape no-one wanted to listen to except him. Then the next day he'd hide in bed until the rest of us had cleaned up the mess, at which point he'd grace us with his presence, sitting on the sofa in a filthy dressing gown, chain smoking with all the windows closed. I took to putting the dirty plates in his bed; it had absolutely no effect but made me feel better.

WandaDoff is right: vacuum superglued in his hand, mop up his arse. Can you take his cats when you leave? Sounds as if they'd be better off with you.
