To be a bit miffed MIL bought my son age 3 to 4 clothes for his second birthday and my parents do not even get him a card

My son is a big lad and is on the 90th centile for his height but I got him to try on the trousers and he would have tripped over in them. It would have been nice for my parents to get him a card but in fairness to them I stopped all contact when my son was 9 months. My dad said he was going to put him in the main road and crawl in the traffic. I felt he posed a safeguarding risk. I do not know what to tell my son about why he has no grandparents on my side as he gets older. Such a shame really.

My MIL bought my 90th centile child 2-3 clothes for her 3rd birthday, they wouldn't go near her but I still smiled and said thank you.

Clothes that are too big can be grown into so unless you asked for clothes for him right now because he's going around naked YABU

Sirzy · 12/08/2013 18:45

You see everlong I would much rather be given things that are too big that will get full wear rather than things for now which they will grow out of in no time. Particularity with newborns because so many people give tiny cute clothes you get to 9-12 months and realise you have nothing that fits!

I understand more with newborn presents but you can either go 2-3 or 3-4 and if he's pretty big she was probably just thinking it might not fit.

YABU. And childish.

thistlelicker · 12/08/2013 21:11

What a surprise op didn't come back!

kinkyfuckery · 12/08/2013 21:16

thistlelicker I'm pretty sure that OP didn't come back because she realised if you search her previous posts, there's a huge number of holes in this story Wink

vj32 · 12/08/2013 21:48

DS got some 4-5year old clothes for his 2nd birthday - I asked for that size from my MIL as DS is above 95th centile, I knew the shop sized on the small side and so anything in 3-4 wouldn't last long. MIL didn't quite believe me but happily bought them anyway.

3 months on DS is now comfortably wearing the things she bought - not too big now!

When you have a BIG child you need BIG clothes!

Fakebook · 12/08/2013 22:02

Is there a slight teeny weeny chance your dad may have been joking? Unless, ofcourse, that is how you were raised, then I completely understand why you'd want to keep your DS safe.

Also, I always buy a size up for gifts and my children's clothes. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? Confused

ComposHat · 12/08/2013 22:53

C'mon kinky if you think there's holes in the op's story, you could at least point us to them, rather than leaving vague accusations lingerinf like a vegetarian's fart.

RubyGoat · 12/08/2013 23:00

lol at "vegetarian's fart".

I too am shocked that OP has not returned...

WhiteandGreen · 13/08/2013 02:57

Thing is when you're buying clothes as a gift for a child, then if they are definitely too big then they will definitely fit at some point.

But clearly there's a lot more going on here than too big trousers.

thistlelicker · 13/08/2013 08:31

If I only knew how to search :-(

SoupDragon · 13/08/2013 08:51

On 12/7/13, the OP said her mum "died last week"

ComposHat · 13/08/2013 08:53

Well both of those threads can't be true.

Either way, pretty fucking shabby on the OP's part.

Oblomov · 13/08/2013 09:38

Was just about to post, about buying my friend's 2 year old some 3-4 aged clothes, and then seen latest posts.
Troll?

pumpkinsweetie · 13/08/2013 09:39

Oh dear.....

YouStayClassySanDiego · 13/08/2013 10:03

Maybe she'll come back soon seeing as she's just posted on another thread this morning.

YouStayClassySanDiego · 13/08/2013 10:11

Grin calling Dr Arnie!

HaroldLloyd · 13/08/2013 10:22

Dunno she might be on the level. Might just be easier on this thread to say parents rather than father and partner?
