To share the bath water?

My DH loves a hot bath and I don't so get in after him. Is it normal to share bath water or actually a bit gross?

This is so weird, I was thinking of starting a thread on this today but thought it would be a bit daft.

Basically I put ds in my bath water today. I've never done it before but I'd filled a lovely warm bath full of bubbles but didn't end up staying in long. Seemed ashame to waste the water so I put ds in.

We share, DD first, then me then DH.

Not as bad as when I was growing up, five of us who shared the bath water, me my sisters and brother used to argue like mad over the order we got in! If you happened to be in last you used to be dirtier when you got out than when you got in!

ohhhh I grew up in a poor house. 1 Emerson heater and so 1 hot bath/ 5 people.

vowed never happen to my kids. we have unlimited hot water and no tank... not much else but that's paradise.

We do occasionally. With 7 of us it's just easier at times to hop in after each other. 3 youngest bath together. You can always finish with shower.

sonlypuppyfat - I'm so far from being a "princess", believe me.

I just don't ever envisage being inclined to get into bath of water that someone else has used. Manky.

And by the way, my folks grew up in WWII when hot water was "rationed" (only supposed to have an inch or two) but they never shared bath water with siblings/parents whatever.

We all share, but I have to go first every time. I'd never go after my dp as he is a muck magnet. We're on a rain water tank so it makes sense.

I get in first as I like it toasty, then dh joins me. We bought a specifically large bath both in length and width for this very purpose. We can both lie out and sit and chat...tis my favourite time of day. Soon we'll also have a little one to join us. That said if he was particularly manky from gardening etc he'd probably have a shower. There must be some right dirty purple on here...we shower in the morning and soak at night...my bath water never looks dirty!

To me this is gross. Our shower is broken at the moment so I am occasionally topping up the bath after the DCs have theirs but never share with Dh!

Use less water per person if hot water is restricted. Then you don't have to share.

I'd rather strip wash than have a bath in someone else's used water.

It is pretty rank to wash in somebody elses water. why would you want to if you didn't have to? Confused

bum water ew! Maybe I will stop now. Our water bill was only £70 for the last quarter so could afford a few more alone!

I don't mind sharing as long as I'm first! I often put the kids in after me as I like it really hot, and by the time I've finished it's cool enough for them

DP and I share sometimes, but if one of us is particularly grubby, we wouldn't. Generally I bathe in the mornings and he does at night, but sometimes at the weekend, we share. It's nice, makes us feel close :)

How dirty do you people get? We share bath water and it had never occurred to me not to. DH and I both like a bath and we have one every morning. Whoever runs it gets in first usually with one of the kids (who also share a bath in the evening but they are only v small). If either of us is particulary grubby (gardening/ sport etc) then we might have shower or bath on our own but otherwise we are pretty clean!

amotherplace my dads from a mining family and as the youngest was always in the bath last.
He always talks about getting in pitch black bathwater.
No hot running water in those days though!

So do you folk that never share baths never swim in public swimming pools either?
We have showers in the morning but will on occasion either have a bath together or share the bath water at night. Showers are for washing - bath for relaxing.

My foster mother begrudged anything and everything they had to provide me with, so I was made to bathe in her used bathwater. I remember at the time feeling totally disgusting having to do it, so I would never do it now.
