Doing the accent of the country of origin of the product they are talking about?? Just that really! For example the girl on more4's italian top 10 foods has a slight welsh accent- which is lovely btw-but keeps putting on a fake, over exaggerated accent of the country that food comes from every time she has to pronounce a non English word!! I probably am being unreasonable but im fixated on it and the next word not the actual program!

I hate it when they try and say foreign place names in the local accent on the news. Yanbu

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

I watched that. The presenter was brought up in Wales, but she is of Italian origin & was shown speaking Italian, so I think it is fair enough that she pronounces the sorts of pasta or dishes she is cooking in the Italian way.

She is Welsh/Italian so if anyone is allowed to "put on" an Italian accent then it's her.

YABU.

Mel Giedroyc was on Room 101 discussing this - very funny, clip might be on YouTube

MalcolmTuckersMum · 11/08/2013 09:01

Hahahaha - perhaps you should have checked first OP! She's speaking exactly as she might be expected to speak Grin

firesidechat · 11/08/2013 09:03

Did you not notice her very Italian surname by the way?

EssexEmmaB · 11/08/2013 10:53

It's not just her though, she was my example at the time and just reminded me how much I hated it. But if she's italian fair enough!
