to think women should not have to wear a bra when answering door to postman

This is following on from armpit thread.

My lovely wife, saggy or not so saggy that is not a question, insists I go to the front door if the milkman, postman, chugger or deliver man knocks when she is braless (but wearing clothes obvs). She never goes to the local shops or anywhere in public without being fettered. I am a person who feels that the human body with hair or without hair, bra or without bra is fine, but like mr Tummnus do we not have a responsibility, not just to our children but to society as a whole, that the human body is natural and shouldn't have to be shaved, hoicked or implanted?

Am I alone in thinking its all a bit fake?

Biscuit Biscuit

Hoick them ^^

Sparklingbrook · 08/08/2013 21:03

I don't understand the question.

pookeyspartner · 08/08/2013 21:08

sparklingbrook would you answer the door, go to the park, meet the queen of england without a bra? I think it's fine for a woman not to wear a bra, but dw does not.

Whatevs dearie, scuttle back under your stone now

happyinherts · 08/08/2013 21:09

She doesnt feel comfortable answering the door if she isn't dressed accordingly and you see a problem????

Justforlaughs · 08/08/2013 21:09

I wouldn't open the door braless, unless I was wearing a dressing gown. Don't know if that helps.

mrscumberbatch · 08/08/2013 21:09

Let your wife do whatever she feels comfortable with, it's not really any of your business.

Sirzy · 08/08/2013 21:10

Doesn't matter what any other woman thinks, it depends what she is comfy doing. If you are at home to answer it and she doesn't feel comfy to then where is the problem?

pookeyspartner · 08/08/2013 21:10

worraliberty feminism didn't pass you buy Grin

Well they're her tits aren't they?

I'm not sure why you think your opinion matters?

If you're fed up of answering the door, tell her to stick a hammock on and and answer it instead.

Scrubber · 08/08/2013 21:13

I don't mind wearing one so I do in the daytime. Having said that if I'm home and have to answer the door I wouldn't give a shiney shit if I had a bra on or not as long as I'm decent.

Sparklingbrook · 08/08/2013 21:13

I would answer the door braless, as long as everything was covered up. If there was someone else to answer the door I would ask them to though. I would always wear a bra to go out and about, but that's for me to feel comfortable.

I haven't given it an awful lot of thought TBH. Each to their own though.

MammaTJ · 08/08/2013 21:15

I am going to treat this as a husband genuinely concerned about his DWs self conciousness.

I have just removed my bra. I am fully clothed apart from that. I am going to go and sit outside and get some fresh air. Anyone who decides to look at me only has themselves to blame. I would answer the door like this.

LEMisdisappointed · 08/08/2013 21:15

you should always ALWAYS wear a bra when you open the door, lest you make the mistake i once made. Having been doing some DIY i had DPs rather holey tshirt on. There was a knock at the door, delivery man, who seemed to want to get away in double quick time, how rude i thought. Until i looked down and realised DPs tshirt had a hole in it - yep, right over my nipple Blush

Also, one gets terrible back ache without a bra!

redcaryellowcar · 08/08/2013 21:17

I once answered the door whilst breastfeeding ds, postman said 'well I've seen it a now' to be honest I hadn't thought about it until he said that! (I don't think he could 'see' that much!)

pookeyspartner · 08/08/2013 21:18

Maybe I will put a hook on the front door for dw to hang emergency overshoulderboulderholder... Please dont get me wrong I am very supportive of dw and respect her need to be dreaped appropriately, just wondered what general consensus was.

dadsnet or bust for me...scuttles off

Sorry should read 'i've seen it all now'

AKissIsNotAContract · 08/08/2013 21:21

Sundays for me are no bra Sundays. I'll go anywhere on a Sunday without a bra

duckiedaddles · 08/08/2013 21:22

I let the Ocado man in when in my PJs as he arrives v early and it would take a level of organisation I don't possess to be dressed by then. I do idly worry about it. But clearly not enough to get up and dressed any earlier.

ShatnersBassoon · 08/08/2013 21:24

I like being free and easy. I don't care if the postman dislikes my unscaffolded frontage.

IThinkOfHappyWhenIThinkOfYou · 08/08/2013 21:27

I hate answering the door braless. It makes me feel vulnerable. I won't claim this is rational, I also can't sleep without a heavy duvet either because of the same feeling. I have very big boobs on a very small frame if that's relevant.

kinkyfuckery · 08/08/2013 21:28

I'll do it if I'm in my jammies with my dressing gown over the top, but not just when they're hanging out under one layer.
Mine are so big and heavy (despite shrinking loads - but they've been left sooooooooooo saggy since losing weight) that they're not comfortable sans-bra so I don't tend to unleash them much other than in bed.

Jux · 08/08/2013 21:30

I'll answer the door draped in a towel if that's all I've got at the time. Couldn't care less.

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 08/08/2013 21:32

I opened the door to delivery man once, still in pj's, DD was about 3 months, as I opened the door, milk spewed out of both breasts and dribbled down my tummy, all over PJ's in two massive patches!

As I was so embarrassed, I chose to completely ignore it, sign the box thing and get back inside quickly to inwardly cringe.
Oh that poor, poor man- I bet he didn't know what to think......
YABU- I wouldn't put anyone through that again

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 08/08/2013 21:35

On a serious note- women can wear what they want.
I do think that bras have a function (keeping breasts supported so as not to cause back pain) for some women.
I know loads of women who go knickerless in the summer especially- I couldn't do it at all but I'm a 'what if' kind of person
