Hmm

How pathetic am I?

Confused

Had an awesome time reading them but now, at 1am, I need a wee and am too scared to walk to the bathroom.

I did just attempt it but retreated when I saw my own shadow on the wall..!

Hallway light has had a dead bulb for months. There will be a dark room to my left, a dark room to my right and the dark bathroom to walk into.

Have proper freaked myself out.

:(

Its a well known fact that if you run really fast, do a speedy piss and run back while jumping into the bed nothing can get you

TheDoctrineOfAllan · 07/08/2013 01:02

Go. Op! We've got your back,

Allalonenow · 07/08/2013 01:03

I started reading one of those threads, but just knew I would never sleep again if I carried on!!
Put on every light that you can, make a lot of noise, take a torch.
If you have got cake in the house, focus on that as your ultimate goal.
Good luck! We are all behind you!!!

Monty27 · 07/08/2013 01:03

Go! Quick, leave all the lights on :)

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 07/08/2013 01:04

And now a cat has made an active decision to sit on my bladder..!

Hmm Hmm Hmm

Is there a receptacle near by into which you can piss and then empty in the morning Grin

SelectAUserName · 07/08/2013 03:18

YABU. It won't get you.

Probably.

crazykat · 07/08/2013 03:25

Next time leave the bathroom light on makes it less scary for you the DCs going to the toilet in the night Wink

chillisbopper · 07/08/2013 03:46

YANBU I'm the same. Or maybe YABU and so am I lol Grin.

I don't know I hate the dark, even without reading any posts. I think I've even made the cat scared of the dark somehow! Honestly if it's dark he meows and cries, I turn hall way light on and he doesn't make a sound all night!! The dog isn't much better Hmm.

We recently had a power cut, I've got loads of candles so not a huge deal. But even with candles everywhere I still made DH come to the bathroom with me and stand outside the open door talking to me Grin (its mirrors, seeing a reflection in the dark that does it...I have 5 older siblings who enjoyed nothing more than trying to scare the younger ones when we were kids lol).

MsJupiterJones · 07/08/2013 04:03

Oh I know! Every time I go in to the baby I am terrified and sitting feeding him in the dark my imagination runs riot.

Why do I read any of these threads?!

Umlauf · 07/08/2013 05:10

I read it too, I've not slept at all. The heat doesn't help either, its impossible to hide under the covers without drowning in my own sweat!

Catsize · 07/08/2013 05:13

Hope you've been by now...

catsmother · 07/08/2013 05:43

Ah MrsRajesh - you've got a cat. That's good. My theory is that as cats are renowned for sensing out supernatural thingummys, so long as your cat seems relaxed and normal then nothing untoward is in your house. When my daughter complains about "the dark" or gets the heebie-jeebies after watching/reading something scary, I always remind her that if we had any ghosts or somesuch the cats would let us know about it!!

TroublesomeEx · 07/08/2013 06:18

MrsRaj you won't want to be coming with me to watch The Conjouring then...

No one wants to come, but even I'm not brave enough to go and see it on my own!

Doubtfuldaphne · 07/08/2013 07:06

Where are these threads? I want to be scared!

fluffyraggies · 07/08/2013 07:31

lol.

I go to the loo at night without putting on any lights 2 or 3 times a night right now as pregnant with the idea that i wont 'wake up' as much that way. The journey begins in a bleary sleepy headed shuffle.

Sometimes - just sometimes - i'll be sat on the loo, in the dark, way out of reach of the light cord, and my mind starts to work and i start to really regret my decision!

Is there something peering through the banisters out there? ????? ?

The thing is then - if you leap up and put the light on, you're going to be blinded when it goes off and you'll have that awful panicy blunder across the landing and the bedroom where you can't see a darn thing!

But everybody knows once your rear end touches that mattress again you're safe as houses Grin

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 07/08/2013 10:50

I didn't go. And yes, pissing into a handy container and emptying it in the morning did cross my mind.

:(

I waited until the morning. Luckily it's still getting light early.

Hmm

Ghosts don't actually cause me too much concern. Spent years working nightshifts in nursing homes and was never massively bothered by ghostly encounters.

It was the stickmen and shadowmen which have properly shit me up. Even now in daylight the thought of them is making me 'uneasy'.

The fecking cats were making a racket last night too. Lots of jumping onto cupboards, chasing each other and frantic digging in the litter trays. Normally I just think, 'Meh. Cats.' but last night I had genuine fears that they were all pyscho killers.

I'm a big Steven King fan - I'm not usually this easy to scare..!

Confused

True about the cats/ghost thing though. I lived in a small house when I was about 20 with the ghost of an older man (apparently a caretaker - very tall, saw him a few times) and my cat (very quiet and timid stray I picked up) would randomly go absolutely batshit crazy at nothing.

Forgot about that last night though..!

Hmm

I don't blame you op. I had to stop reading that thread because it was freaking me out. Then i started remembering other scary stories I'd heard, a lot of them on here, about haunted hospitals and dolls with heads that turn around and that scared me even more.

ClassyAsALannister · 07/08/2013 11:27

I can't find anything on these stick men? Pleaaaase link the threads? (So I can scare myself shitless) Grin

Sallyingforth · 07/08/2013 12:55

One of the stick men hides behind the cistern. He's planning to 'get' you from behind while you are sitting there.....
:)

sashh · 07/08/2013 13:30

Are you an American teenager in a skimpy nighty with bleached blonde hair?

Have you answered the phone recently and left all the doors unlocked.

If you answer no to both of those you are safe.

burstingbaboon · 07/08/2013 13:46

Where are those stories? I love creepy stories?!?

MikeOxard · 07/08/2013 14:00

Ahahaha, not just me then! It was the stick man/shadow man thing that shit me up too. I did go for a wee eventually though when it got light outside.

That thread should be in classics.

MikeOxard · 07/08/2013 14:01

It was in AIBU, titled something like 'to ask if you've ever had a spooky experience'.

MikeOxard · 07/08/2013 14:04

Oh hang on - I think I just made that last bit up! Blush
