Husband wanted kebab for dinner but cannot drive. He phoned up the local takeaway and arranged a delivery but I could have just popped out in the car and saved £8. When I asked him he said for me not to worry about it but I work (he does not) and I have just given him £400 today to get a surround sound system. I know £8 is only a tiny amount of cash but it is the principle. Perhaps I am just being tight fisted do not know

Who the fuck charges £8 delivery for a kebab?? Shock

aldiwhore · 05/08/2013 17:46

I think it's pointless to argue over £8 when you've given him £400 for something that is a 'luxury' - is the surround sound system for your benefit? Or his?

If yours, you've nothing to moan about. If his, £8 is the least of your problems.

Saying that I firmly believe that the one who earns the most should NOT have all the spend power and say-so in a marriage, it should always be equal. I didn't work for a few years, and I spent 'the' money that was in the pot, DH had an accident and was out of work for a long time, and I didn't 'give' him any money as even though I was earning it, it was OURS so there was no giving involved.

I sincerely hope you haven't married a sponge who refuses to contribute though, that's when equality and shared money and all talk of 'the pot' goes out of the window!!

frogwatcher42 · 05/08/2013 17:48

And who worries about £8 when they have just spent £400 on something equally useless.

Will you not benefit from the surround sound? If so, then surely you have not 'given him' the money for it, but agreed the purchase between you.

Is it your money or both of yours. Assuming it is both of yours (you are married after all) then I suppose in a way yabu re the £8 as it is a small amount.

And I second the 'who charges £8 for delivery of a kebab'????

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 17:51

He does not work as he is blind and hence how the surround sound will benefit him more than me. I do not mind him having luxury items at all, I just hate WASTING cash and it would have literally just been a 5 minute car drive for me

So 8 quid to deliver a kebab, a 5 minute car drive away? Confused

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 17:53

I know Worra it is a rip off mc strip off

Could you have walked there instead?

WhoNickedMyName · 05/08/2013 18:01

YABU.

You've just spent 400 on something totally non essential, another 8 is nothing.

Given that you work and he doesn't, maybe he thought you'd done enough today and he didn't want to ask you to go out to pick up his food.

Just tell your DH that in future you'd prefer to save the 8 and collect the kebab yourself.

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 18:02

He normally loves walking and usually would have walked it but I guess he is not in the walking mood.
On the other hand I am one of those people who spends ages hovering for a car parking space as near to the supermarket entrance as possible so I wouldn't walk it but that is just me being lazy

I understand you not wanting to waste cash but I don't understand what's relevant about you saying you work and he doesn't?

ChippingInHopHopHop · 05/08/2013 18:05

Whether she just spent £400 on a luxury item or not isn't relevant.

The fact is that she would have been happy to go and get it for him and £8 is ridiculous for a kebab to be delivered.

Making a decision to spend a lot of money on a luxury item is one thing, frittering it away is another altogether.

I'd be pissed off as well.

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 18:07

The kebab has arrived and it stinks of cannabis! I know the owner of the kebab shop is a dealer and am wondering if this is the fast food equivalent of a space cake!

OP posts:
WhoNickedMyName · 05/08/2013 18:08

But did he know she'd be happy to go and get the kebab?

Maybe he didn't want to ask as she's been at work all day.

We don't know, and he's not a mind reader.

She can now tell him that in future she will collect his kebabs for him.

WhoNickedMyName · 05/08/2013 18:09

Ah yes, a cannabis kebab.

4/10.

I'm off.

b584 · 05/08/2013 18:11

I very much doubt it was £8 just for delivery, More likely that the £8 was what you had to spend for them to deliver at all.

Arnie123 · 05/08/2013 18:13

I think the cannabis stench was just the delivery man it seems so have subsided now

MrsLouisTheroux · 05/08/2013 18:49

Get on Internet and find another Kebab shop.
One that delivers free and doesn't put canabis in their kebabs.

HTH

KatieScarlett2833 · 05/08/2013 19:00

Anyone else want the number of Cannabis Kebabs?
