www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2384726/Pregnant-Sarah-Sharples-spends-3-000-pink-baby-clothes-boy.html

Sorry for Daily Fail link but given all the threads we have on pink/blue arguments I had to laugh..on the one hand...but on the other, I felt relieved that she had a boy and that a poor benighted daughter was not going to be brainwashed in a pink princess crap.

On the third hand perhaps the poor wee lad will be drowned in toy guns, camouflage gear and dinosaurs 'cos that is what boys are about.

Why would you spend that much?

orangeandemons · 05/08/2013 13:52

Why is the baby's head on a pillow? Thought no one used these anymore

FrussoHathor · 05/08/2013 13:55

Reflux maybe orange?

Although I can't get over the frilliness of his bedding

KirjavaTheCat · 05/08/2013 13:55

It's unusual, though, right? Right?!? Grin

She went overboard. I've entertained this possibility and am buying as many gender-neutral clothes as possible, they tell you at the scan that it's never 100%, why would you spend 3k?!

The dailymailsadface just makes her look ridiculous. Yes, yes, poor her with her healthy baby boy and redecorated nursery.

SaucyJack · 05/08/2013 14:05

She didn't actual spend 3K on baby clothes to be fair. That did include the pram and nursery furniture.

Also, have you actual tried buying gender neutral clothes at the moment. It's damn near impossible unless you like the the Cookie fecking Monster. Even H&M are rubbish.

ANormalOne · 05/08/2013 14:24

I must live on a different planet because I find it pretty easy to get gender neutral clothes.

hingmy · 05/08/2013 14:25

The baby shouldn't have a hood up while in its moses basket - cot death risk.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 05/08/2013 14:32

SaucyJack - I usually find Asda have a pretty good range of gender neutral baby grows and vests and no cookie monster in sight on those.

It is unusual they get it wrong, but they do warn you that they are not 100% sure at the time of the scan so it does happen.
I think I would just be happy my baby was doing well and concentrate on him rather than running to the press.

My feeling is this...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

morefalafel · 05/08/2013 14:41

Sorry, I just scrolled a bit and saw Sarah Sharples typical melancholy "can you believe this happened to me" article face while holding up said pink items and I say again... hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Good god they did go totally overboard with the "little princess", pink and frilly theme didn't they? Not really my taste but to each their own, they probably got a bit carried away with the excitement of their first baby.
But 3K? that seems like a lot of clothes that the baby will grow out of in a nanosecond. Feck exchanging them as well, it's not like a newborn is going to mind the color is it?
Why on earth did she go to the papers with it though? Confused

lollilou · 05/08/2013 14:50

Thankfully it doesn't seem they are going to sue the hospital which I'm sure I've heard has been done before. That would have made me cross!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 05/08/2013 14:51

Vom.

More money than sense.

We decided to name him Joseph as we didn't think he would appreciate the name Lily-Mae

No shit, Sherlock.

maja00 · 05/08/2013 14:52

I think "Lily Mae" had a lucky escape tbh.

Pootles2010 · 05/08/2013 14:52

They couldn't sue the hospital - they always tell you its not certain, silly pair obviously didn't listen.

FrussoHathor · 05/08/2013 14:58

£1,000 of pink nursery furniture,. really? Because that photo of the Girly room clearly has white furniture in it. Hmm

AngiBolen · 05/08/2013 15:04

This is why I only dared to buy one item of clothing in pink, and went for white everything else.

ComposHat · 05/08/2013 15:10

He he he he! more bloody money than sense! Serves them right. Anyway why would a new born child give a fuck what cover its walls are painted?

SofaKing · 05/08/2013 15:15

This happened to the girl in the bed next to me when I had dd.

She had a pink pram etc, and had a boy.

The midwife said to her Well, there's always eBay!

I don't think she minded too much, it was clear she and her dp adored him, boy or girl!

AngiBolen · 05/08/2013 15:30

I didn't think you could ebay babies.

Onesleeptillwembley · 05/08/2013 15:41

At least it's spared the poor child being yet another Lily Mae. Awful thing to do to a name, and just started hearing (insert name of choice) Mae screeched in supermarkets. Guess they are fetting a bit older now.

Nagoo · 05/08/2013 15:58
