www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2384726/Pregnant-Sarah-Sharples-spends-3-000-pink-baby-clothes-boy.html

Sorry for Daily Fail link but given all the threads we have on pink/blue arguments I had to laugh..on the one hand...but on the other, I felt relieved that she had a boy and that a poor benighted daughter was not going to be brainwashed in a pink princess crap.

On the third hand perhaps the poor wee lad will be drowned in toy guns, camouflage gear and dinosaurs 'cos that is what boys are about.

At the hospital where I live there's signs up saying not to ask what the sex is when you get the scan. I believe there was an incident where they got the sex wrong and were sued.

BeCool · 05/08/2013 16:09

Gosh I laughed out loud!

Still at least she got a few quid from the DM!

Some people .........

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 05/08/2013 16:11

I find it insane that when spending that much on prams and furniture that you wouldn't get ones that can be re used on another baby.

Why it merits an article I don't know. Is stupidity the only news these days ? What ever happened to "a few neutral baby grows will get stuff as needed after"

BeCool · 05/08/2013 16:15

I am trying REALLY hard not to be all judgey about so much in that article.

That's the DM in a nutshell though isn't it - we challenge even the least judgey MN'er not to tut and roll eyes at this beauty!

ComposHat · 05/08/2013 16:18

Is there a special 'thwarted parent face' that all mothers have to pull in Daily Mail articles?

My attention was also drawn to this caption:

Is that you, Lily-Mae: When baby Joseph was born he was quite a surprise, not only because he was a little bit early, but also because he was a boy... and his parents thought he was going to be a girl

Lack of question mark after Lily-Mae!

To compound the error they've used a superfluous capital letter after the colon. This is almost as shoddy as the Daily Heil's journalistic standards.

Whothefuckfarted · 05/08/2013 16:22

Look how friggin sad she looks holding up all her vom inducing pink shit that she bought.

Refund and get over it, you have a healthy baby!!

Personalised stuff can be sold too, plenty 'Lilly mae' babies out there I'm sure..

SarahAndFuck · 05/08/2013 16:22

It wasn't £3000 on pink clothes alone. It was only £1500 on pink clothes (still Shock ) and the rest on pink nursery furniture and a pink pram.

Although I have to say, that furniture looks white to me even in the pink bedroom. Either way, they could still use it regardless of colour and I'm sure the pram would have been fine too.

gamerchick · 05/08/2013 16:22

Why is the baby's head on a pillow? Thought no one used these anymore

Looks like a baby nest.. haven't seen one of those for years.

Squitten · 05/08/2013 16:27

Idiots.

We've been told DC3 is a girl after 2 boys. I have tempted fate so far as to buy £10 worth of purple/multi-coloured "girl" babygros and that's it. We'll be reusing any of the boys' stuff that was isn't blue.

Don't understand why you'd spend that kind of money on baby stuff in the first place!

ImNotBloody14 · 05/08/2013 16:29

"My feeling is this...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!"

^^ this

they're idiots.

MamaLazarou · 05/08/2013 16:30

Silly tits.

Cute baby, though.

FrussoHathor · 05/08/2013 16:30

All our scans had confirmed it was a girl

All 1 of them?

lunar1 · 05/08/2013 16:38

I cant help thinking that if there is a God, then she took the opportunity to do a switch and rescue this child from a life time of barbies and lipgloss.

When i was told DS2 was a boy, i said are you sure, she said well, im either 100% right or 100% wrong! I still packed gender neutral to be safe.

mayoandchips · 05/08/2013 16:47

At my scan, the sonographer didn't say 'It is not 100%' at all. In fact, he said 'It is, without a doubt a boy,' and proceeded to show me what was meant to be his penis. I still know there's a small chance he was wrong, so I'm not rushing out to buy swarthes of blue, but people who say she's an idiot as the sonographer 'would have said xyz' are being unfair.

littlemisswise · 05/08/2013 16:52

DN was told her DS might be a boy but they couldn't be certain. She still bought all blue though silly fool.

Her sad face is ridiculous, do you think they practice in front of the mirror or take selfies?

dadinthehat · 05/08/2013 16:54

A £900 pink pram?!?!?!?!? Seriously?

MissStrawberry · 05/08/2013 16:55

It is pathetic she says she wanted her baby to want for nothing an thinks a baby needs all that crap. All a baby needs is a clean bottom, a full tummy and someone to love them.

Ezio · 05/08/2013 16:55

When i was told DD was a girl, she said "Looks like its a girl", I took that to mean, theres a higher chance of a girl, but still could be a boy.

So we didnt get much girl stuff, just some bits that we wouldnt have been bothered about if DD turned out to be a boy.

attheendoftheday · 05/08/2013 17:03

My feeling is this...

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

^This

JerseySpud · 05/08/2013 17:04

I laughed.

Alot.

JerseySpud · 05/08/2013 17:04

And i remember having the scan with my youngest the scanning lady saying 'Well its either a girl or a boy with a very very small willy'

So we went with girl

attheendoftheday · 05/08/2013 17:05

Also, we bought all the big things gender neutral even after we knew dd1 was a girl in case we had a boy next.

OrangeLily · 05/08/2013 17:11

I went to that link and ended up on Samantha Brick's newest crap. Woops!

That was an awful lot of pre-baby shopping!

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 05/08/2013 17:29

Love that the DM says they spent £3000 on 'essentials'. Idiots.

mayoandchips · 05/08/2013 17:59

Agree with MissStrawberry. A baby isn't going to know the difference between Oxfam or Jojo Maman Bebe.
