to wonder why there's no bosom-hoiking at Simon Cowell becoming a dad at the age of 53

because if a 50 year old woman were to be pregnant MNetters would be lining up to cry "too old!" "selfish!".

have I missed something.

hothereinnit · 31/07/2013 22:39

no bosom-hoiking here because, er, DP is 53, and we have an 11 month old Hmm

WorraLiberty · 31/07/2013 22:39

Is he going to give birth to the baby? Shock

SoleSource · 31/07/2013 22:40

I had no idea!

I wouldn't have judged about a 50 year old woman becoming pregnant.

ClartyCarol · 31/07/2013 22:40

I'm more shocked that Simon Cowell is becoming a dad at all to be honest.

Talkinpeace · 31/07/2013 22:40

proof its his? Grin

YouStayClassySanDiego · 31/07/2013 22:41

Really?

Would.MN be up in arms about any 50 year old becoming a parent?

I doubt it, what's your source?

Tweasels · 31/07/2013 22:41

Erm, because he's a man and isn't carrying and giving birth to the baby

Confused
WorraLiberty · 31/07/2013 22:42

And for the record, I've not seen anyone up in arms over older Mothers?

If Simon lived to be 83 for example, his child would be 30.

I don't think that's too young an age to lose a parent. No-one likes losing their parents but it happens at all ages.

Lighthousekeeping · 31/07/2013 22:43

I don't believe it www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/simon-cowell-baby-lauren-silverman-2108499

TylerHopkins · 31/07/2013 22:44

I hadn't heard so have just been on Google!

TylerHopkins · 31/07/2013 22:45

My dad was 55 when I was conceived. He passed away 9 years later.

BadgersNadgers · 31/07/2013 22:50

Are you Sinnita OP? Otherwise I don't see why you'd care.

Newcupboards · 31/07/2013 22:50

YouStayClassy - here is my source

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 31/07/2013 22:51

Step dad was 50 and 52 when my siblings were born

Bowlersarm · 31/07/2013 22:52

Will he be giving birth then OP?

As far as I am aware, men aged 53 (and even older, oh yes) have become fathers throughout the centuries.

NoComet · 31/07/2013 22:52

DH's dad was 56 and he has a younger sister.

He lived to 89. Long enough to see both his children married.

Newcupboards · 31/07/2013 22:55

ThisReallyIsNot - but why is a 50 year old woman selfish to be having a baby but a 50+ man isn't?

Tryharder · 31/07/2013 22:56

I read the article earlier and tbh wrote it off as just another Media publicity stunt in a futile bid for SC to convince the world that he is not gay.

hothereinnit · 31/07/2013 22:56

my mum was 24 when she had me.

she died when I was 17.

sometimes, shit happens, regardless of how old you (or your children; or your parents) are.

Bowlersarm · 31/07/2013 22:57

Who is saying that a 50 year old woman who falls pregnant is selfish?

ZingWidge · 31/07/2013 22:57

Picasso was 67 when Paloma was born

53 is not that old for a bloke

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 31/07/2013 22:57

His contribution wasn't really a challenge, was it.

TylerHopkins · 31/07/2013 22:58

His girlfriends are clones of one another. The mother-to-be is the image of Mezghan, his ex.

Jinty64 · 31/07/2013 22:58

Dh was 48 when ds1 was born, 50 when ds2 was born and 58 when we had ds3. I don't see the problem.
