to thnk tv shouldnt advertise 18 cert dvds, films and games during a family film?

Watching star wars- return of the jedi. ITV1.

adverts come on and theres an ad for a dvd with violence, blood and gore,shooting, etc.

yes, star wars has shooty stuff but is a family film, but this is advertising Jason stratham/Vin deisel/Quentin Tarantino type things?

As long as the clip itself is suitable for TV, I don't see the problem?

They do it at the cinema too, it doesn't mater as long as the actual advert is age appropriate.

well the ad was a bit obvious what it was about IYKWIM. lots of guns/shooting etc etc.

If you think it's unsuitable report it to the ASA.
Personally i think YABU for the reasons people have suggested and I think the ASA will likely agree with them. Clearcast approve all ads pre-broadcast and often specify excluding kids TV and post-9pm for certain film ads so the broadcaster won't show them during the blackout times.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of the imagination that someone who enjoys Star Wars will also enjoy guns n shooty films.
