I'm trying to make a playlist for an event, sort of a counterpart to other events going on that have very serious formal dances. Ours is going to be loud, raucous and full of guilty pleasure music.

I don't see any reason we can't have some fun with this. Pick one or more and dance around the house!

Starting off, I have We Built This City by Starship, It's Not Unusual by Tom Jones, You Shook Me by AC/DC.....

So many of these!

Plus "Live while we're young" by One Direction. (I'm not a fan but it's one that my DS1 had in his dance show, and it does get me moving)
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough

Footloose, Wake Me Up Before You Go-go, and Don't Leave Me This Way are the theme tune to my yoof - I still can't sit still when they're on!

PrincessTeacake · 28/07/2013 12:02

This is all brilliant. I've got the majority of them downloaded now, I'm going to test run in on the mindees when I go back to work so we'll have a wee dance party in the kitchen, the three of us.

Also, since the event is pirate-themed, this will be our closing track:

travelincolour Thanks

I agree, that's a great compilation! Do they do them as downloads on Radio1 do you know? Some programmes mention podcasts but couldn't see a button for it there.

MildlyMiserable · 28/07/2013 12:09

Fiesta -the Pogues

Mandy2003 · 28/07/2013 12:14

Princess - what happens when the mindees go home singing "Being a pirate is really badass"!?

itsonlyapapermoon · 28/07/2013 13:19

Down in Mexico by The Coasters-always makes me shake my arse :)

Ain't Nobody by Chaka Khan
Ain't nothing goin on but the rent, Gwen Guthrie

If those don't get people up don't know what will.

Mandy2003 · 28/07/2013 17:38

Yes I hate the name podcast too! In fact next time there's a thread inviting people to list their most boakworthy words its got to be in there Envy

PlateSpinningAtAllTimes · 28/07/2013 19:28

Ooh ooh - has anyone mentioned Van Halen - Jump?!

PrincessTeacake · 28/07/2013 19:52

Way ahead of you Mandy....I'm a nanny, I go home instead of them!

We should party sometime, PrinceofCambridge! Though preferably at your gaff - I think Buckingham Palace is a better party venue than my two-bed flat Wink.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 29/07/2013 20:11

Loving the suggestions on here! My list would also include:
? Do you love me (now that I can dance) Dirty Dancing
? Livin on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
? We will rock you - Queen
? Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
? Dance with me tonight - Ollie Murs
? Rolling in the deep - Adele
So so many, I'm getting the iPod out now to have a boogie!!!

haventgotaclue · 29/07/2013 22:51

Daydream Believer - The Monkees

Caboodle · 29/07/2013 23:58

Genius thread (gets paper and pen out to make list for birthday bash....)

LocoParentis · 30/07/2013 00:46

Up around the bend - Credence Clearwater revival

LocoParentis · 30/07/2013 00:48

or the birdy song!

StuntGirl · 30/07/2013 01:31

I doubt my choices would go down well with the majority -

Party Hard by Andrew W.K.
Fuel by Metallica
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
Almost anything by Lostprophets (especially Last Train Home)
Last Resort by Papa Roach

Holy shit this would be a good party, I'm off to make myself my own playlist Grin

DaleyBump · 30/07/2013 01:43

The Cha Cha Slide Grin

DaleyBump · 30/07/2013 01:45

And all the ones StuntGirl said. As well as Tears Don't Fall by Bring Me The Horizon and Weightless by All Time Low. And Bubbles by Biffy Clyro. Every time I say one, I think of more. I need more time.

BookieMonster · 30/07/2013 04:45

I will survive! (Guaranteed to get loads of pissed women up on the floor.)

HollyBerryBush · 30/07/2013 08:53

I have bad taste in music .... in those 100 best/worst shows they do around NYE - you can guarantee 9/10 of the worst ever records ever will be in my collection Grin

agadoo
That thing from the Rocky Horror show
Anything by Right Said Fred
Anything from Village People
D I S C O
Gangnam

Lovecat · 30/07/2013 09:24

also

The Walk - Cure
Jump Around - House of Pain
Groove is in the Heart - Deelite
Born This Way - Lady Gaga
Who Do You Think You Are? - Spice Girls
Sunrise - Duran Duran
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode

digerd · 30/07/2013 18:17

Just remembered
Maroon 5 The Wrong Side of the Road. Another disco but slower with mood as a break between the more energetic ones. Also romantic.
