To ask you slightly larger or maybe less confident women what you wear.to swimming pool? :(

Going away in a week. There will be a fab swimming pool, with huge flumes and slides.
Went two years ago with dp but was slimmer then :(

Really want to go again this year, especially as ds is old enough to go too :)

Thing is I am dreading it. Feel huge in all the wrong places and swimwear is not my friend. Its just all the getting in and out of the pool and walking around to go from one jacuzzi or slide or pool to the next. And other members of our family are going this year. If it were just dp, I might've been ok!

Anyway I am rambling now. Reason for posting is if anyone has any good tips/ideas on what I could wear so am covered up without looking obviously fat and self conscious iyswim?!

I am very large but just find the nearest thing to a flattering one piece swimsuit and sarong that I can get and console myself with the thought that, as I am on holiday, I am never likely to run into any of those people ever again so who cares?

Honestly- it's about confidence. In europe women of all ages, shapes, sizes wear bikinis, really- no-one cares. No-one is looking, they;re just having fun. Maybe your family are the type that would make comments to you, but ignore them! Just think of the fun you'll have with DS- all he will notice is mummy playing with him, and having a fantastic time

I have a swim dress which I love, great for a extra bit of coverage and shape to balance things out.

I have a tankini with internal bra.

I have 2 bottoms for it, one is those bottoms with a folds waistband and the other is a little skirt.

I know I know its the confidence. And normal everyday I am confident as I wear clothes that are slimming and comfortable and hide any wobbly bits. But in swimwear there is nothing to hide behind!

I was thinking of wearing my swimsuit with one of those light long tunic type things over the top? But are you actually allowed to wear things that aren't swimwear in an indoor swimming pool?

I wear board shorts at a water park.

I saw those swimdresses. Look great but still too uncovered for me! Too much thigh and upper arm on show. I nnes a wetsuit! Head to toe! :)

Hello I suffer from the same problem, best bet is a tankini, I thought it actually looked alright though have to confess I am not 100% confident about flashing my belly in front of people

I've got an underwired swim suit and tankini from Bravissimo which are good. Will happily lay about on holiday in them with a sarong. But dread walking into the sea because of my cellulite so I probably won't. Cycling shorts?!

I hear you, it's unfair that men are allowed to wear baggy shorts and tshirts, yet women really only get a choice of revealing or more revealing! (I once tried to go on water slides with a tshirt over the top of a swimsuit and was refused entry!)

However speedo do a very good range of 'sculpt' or 'contour' swimsuits that do a great job of sucking you in and holding you up, couldn't cut and paste a link but have a search on wiggle.co.uk

Didn't nigella lawson once wear a burquini so she could swim without the paparazzi takings pics of her body? Dunno how you get hold of one though.

I've got a cheapo costume from sports direct, with short legs (kind of 1950s looking, and not in a good way), which means I don't spend every second I'm not actually in the water pulling my swimming costume down. It's not a great look, but I feel a lot more confident knowing my bum's not hanging out of my costume.

Some pools allow t-shirts or similar over costumes, others don't - ask the pool (and even if they say no, it's worth bringing one anyway, as you might find out that they're allowed in practice).

I always wear swimming costumes with swim shorts over the top. It makes me feel a little less exposed but not too over the top covered up.

I love board shorts (can be worn with either bikini or swim suit.
I also have a few swim dresses which are great. But I do find as the holiday goes I start to gain more confidence (maybe the tan helps) and end up in either a bikini or tankini.

Honestly the people I dont know are not the problem. Last time I went I was of the thinking, il never see them again. Its family I'm going with I dont want to be dressed, or rather undressed, like that in front of. :(

We do, ThePortlyPinUp - though I'm fairly sure that I paid £12.99 for mine. I think I'd better stock up at the cheaper price next time I'm in Sports Direct.
