This is not really AIBU. It's 1.55 am where we are and DH isn't back. He went out to a work thing but that must have finished awhile ago. He isn't answering his phone. He promised he would be ok. He has form for drinking and getting out of control. I'm scared and worried

I've no advice but he sounds like he shouldn't drink.

Do you know, and can contact, anyone who was going to be with him?

TBH, as a grown adult, I'd go to sleep and let him get on with it. If he does something stupid, you'll need to be up and alert later, so will be glad of the sleep now, and if he's just late back because he's being sick by the roadside, there's nothing you can do about it now. He said he would be ok - trust him on that and get you some rest. Twat

Have you got numbers for any of the people he is out with? Or do you know where he has gone? Hope that he turns up soon but agree with Baby that it sounds like he's got a bit of a drinking issue.

Finally heard from the idiot. Said he was three towns away. Bloody incoherent. So I got all worried and panicked, and got the two kids in the car to get him. The the twat calls to say he's in a bar near home. I pick him up and check his phone. He called for a cab at 11.30 and has been at a bar drinking since then.

I know tomorrow I will get all the excuses. I'm sleeping on the pull out bed. The fucking twat

I'd have left him where he was and gone to bed.

I don't trust him to be able to get home when he is drunk. He doesn't know his limits. Taking the kids out is desperation. I'm always scared that something will happen to him. But it never stops him or all the problems his drinking has caused.

Hate to say it but you're enabling him to be a dickhead by rescuing him when he drinks. He's an adult,either he adresses his drinking problem or stops dragging you and the DC down with him. Do you want your children's childhood remembered as being woken in the night to go get their drunk father?
